When flying my two ships to a distant location, not in formation, my smaller faster ship appears to want to keep speed with my larger slightly slower ship. To do so it seems to not fire full forward thrust (good) but also fully fire one rear facing engine.... which seems really unnecessary.

your ships weight looks unbalnced to me
sensors weigh more than nonrmal parts bc they just do
so your ship is firing less thrust on one side to attempt to not spin out when flying straight
