#(Stable 0.29) Crew Refuses to recharge MAIN thruster---

now that i have posted this. with 1 MIN delay they finally refilled it. While 3 crew where IDLE.
Union-mandated coffee break, sorry.
since they ignored it for like 5min that would actually be reasonable.
does your reactor use resource assignments?
if not, i know what’s happening
crew are probably trying to supply power to the thrusters, but are prioritized to power the shields/cockpit above the thrusters
when reactors (and capacitors) are not assigned directly to supply power to any parts, crew supplying power from them can switch their destination while in transit, even if doing so is objectively worse for powering the ship
this is a pretty visible effect on the fanged fighter - load it into the game, fire the laser blasters, and watch the one supply crew try to supply the lasers. sometimes they will turn a 180 to supply the thrust instead
Shouldnt happen with spare idle crew
can you send me the ship file? i can do some testing
I reported this BCS crew sat on their ass while the ship basically crawled to its destination
i bet it’s because the crew in transit, while holding a battery, is usually closer to that thruster than the idle crew
Also crew prefer refilling auxiliary braking / turning thrusters instead of properly refilling main engines, which would make refilling the auxiliary thrusters not needed. But no let's refill the aux thruster going 100% instead of making sure we prioritize forward thrust
And so it steals the job, drops it & repeat 🔁
may i see the ship file? i’m pretty sure i know what’s going on
at work rn and on holiday after
There should be a thread and or post with ships with directly assigned reactor and crew to an OC engine room doing nothing and basically somehow igniting the OC thrusters constantly
do you just use redshirts for crew? if so i can remake your ship
redshirts are famously prone to priority issues like this
But like how hard is operate and refill 1 thing. They reactor is even dedicated only for the ER but somehow still
the power of resource assignments
