Carbon is rare and very limited, we could use missile + (and a another material)
Its would be easier to acquire
that would be useful against HE spam
but I think it should not work on Nukes due to their way of targetting and shooting (plus they have been nerfed a enough already)
fair enough, but also this would be really strong against certain builds, so i think it would be fair
it might also work as a "shield"
lets just say a railgun shot or cannon shot hits this projectile, I think it should block it and break itself
this would make it possible to create a projectile shield against light weaponary that can be shot down
like DC, but nukes will penetrate at least 2-3 of those projectiles due to HP of a nuke

Hmm, I originally envisioned flares/countermeasures as an anti-missile defense but that didn't seem very interesting. Your proposal is more of an anti-anti-missile system, which seems potentially more interesting.
some form of 'decoy' missile that attracts flak and PD would be cool

imo not needed because using cannons does same thing but also encourages hybrids (good)
i mean the fact that the small cannon kinda sucks already makes it already the case
?? sc is literally better than lc in most cases
Distraction of Missile, EMP and Mines could be cool as a kind of defense.
I see the standard problem of protecting the back and sides of the ship:
Pro Armor: never fails till it is destroyed, needs no crew/maintenance.
Con Armor: It is heavy (even more by layering) After destruction, there is no protection at all
Pro Flare: is lighter, long term protection
Con Flare: needs some kind of Ammo, Crew and maintenance. Can fail like PD/Flak.
I love this idea it would spice up the gameplay a bit
if this implemented, their would a ship class called "Interceptor" that intercepts, distract or disrupt ships, annoyingly...

they just use EMP in a big amount being one of the most annoying ships on the field

well, lets just say, 4 EMP is enough to turn any ship below 150-200K into useless piece of scrap
so like a flare shotgun to draw out PD and flak fire ?
as a side use, maybe contact fire (has, idk, a % of chance to start a fire on the block touched)
well, sounds like a new mod idea for me (easier to make than teleporting mines that i keep putting for later)

there already is one of these :( it is called cannon
counterpoint : cannons need to be close range to do their distraction effect
works well on small ships due to ranges, but large ones do not scale well
?? even at 5m+ they work fine
