#option to give up "Salvage rights" (reduce save/load times)

in the late game, saving and loading time can get pretty bad. and I believe the main culprit of this is wreaks and debris that I can't be bothered to collect. I'm think a way to solve is for you to mark salvage and debris you no longer care about. lore wise nps will collect the junk off screen or whatever.

maybe it can be a button next to the custom marker button that gives you a box select you can use with very large areas.

Simple idea that can be somewhat expanded on, but the saving/ loading times are killing me.

You haven't used mods that change the default parameters of systems and resources in them? Do you have an HD or an SSD?

no mods. I have both SSD and HDD, I'm 70% sure the game is on the SSDs. (I had the game on my HDD but I moved it to a SSD using steam's "move install folder"). This is what the map looks like just after the station run of a new system. (using the unstable branch where debris is highlighted (no difference in save times between the stable and unstable version)). the save times are fine now, but as I was finishing up in the last system, it was... very annoying.

It could also be leftover asteroids. One asteroid counts as a single entity. Once you break it into a kajillion pieces each one is recorded as it's own entity.

I don't see anything unusual. There aren't a lot of abandoned resources. I don't even know what can cause serious delays. I have more resources and systems open with these resources and somehow I do not notice very serious delays. I have already exceeded 250Mb in save size and it doesn't really bother me. What is the size of your savedgame - file?

my save file is at 2MB, though I don't think size matters since solar systems you have not been in for a while are stored but not loaded. right now, save times are at about 12 seconds. but I know they where more then double in the last sector. I know it doesn't sound like a lot but when I am in the middle of a battle or something and the auto save hits. it's frustrating. what is your save times?

There's a mod to mine the whole asteroid. I never play without it.

Making asteroids dissappear in a station battle just removes cover.

Mod is called "Asteroid eater" I really wish it was a gameplay option

Walt believes floating resources are optimized to the point where they are not causing this problem. If Walt is correct on that (probably is) then it is likely to be the wreaks. 🤔
