#Fe assigns

Fe = fire extinguishers
The point of this one might ask is to be able to assign fe to specific areas without worrying abt crew assigned to the fe responding to things to far away for example having a fe assigned to the control room and only allowing the control room operators to use it without the worry that a control room operator is going to run away with the fe for no reason
Thanks for clarifying - I interpreted Fe as Iron.
This could work, but only because crew do have a habit of walking from one side of the ship to another
To make FE more interesting and easier than crew assignments, each FE could have a operating radius. Tiles outside of this range will not have fires extinguished with this FE part.
This radius can be changed manually for each FE part so builders can adapt it to ship designs. Larger radiuses mean you might need less FEs, but they might also be less efficient because of crew pathing.
I’m happy you share the problem but the radius thing sounds like a rlly roundabout way of dealing with it compared to the current assigns suggestion
This would be very helpful for my larger cruisers, have an upvote.
There are two advantages I believe the radius system has:
- I’ve noticed that the crew assignment system can be very confusing for some players. A simpler system will be easier for players to learn and use.
- Crew assigns target specific parts across the ship. This works fine for crew and power since the number of targets is small…but FE would have to target every single part directly. The radius indicator is much cleaner visually, so it’s easier to use and understand. Especially if the radius is shown visually as a circle with the FE in the center.
Pretty funny the person who started this thread
Jokes aside I think this is a good idea, my only worry would be cluttering the resource assignments tab too much with arrows
Lack of agency in dealing with fires is something we've discussed. Something like this may be possible with how extinguishing works, but it would add to the existing jank that is fire extinguishing.
I think the implementation of fire extinguishing using resource jobs is something that limits how we can reasonably allow players to interact with it. I don't know whether this is something we'll be looking at changing anytime soon, but my assumption is that it will be changed eventually.
fish has added fes to his uls after how many times hes lost to it
iirc
tbh i rly dont get the idea of no fes on uls its absolutely stupid
makes it so u cant even afford losing a single launcher
ever
So my understanding of this is your looking for something more along the lines of a fire rework over changing the current system?
