Basically, each tile of those asteroid has a chance to contain a random ressources, with varying probabilities. Not too common, but spawn in belts, can allow to get some rarer ores.

Then, we could have mixed ore asteroids, wich can have two or more ressources in them. Scordite asteroids, could contain a lot of steel with a bit of sulfur, Pyroxeres could contain sulfur with copper, and Veldspar contain Steel and tri-steel (You can tell I was inspired with the names because I stole them from eve online)

lol yeah i think this’d be cool with original names

# naive silo einsteinium

Also real, and radioactive too!

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Einsteinium

Einsteinium is a synthetic chemical element; it has symbol Es and atomic number 99. Einsteinium is a member of the actinide series and it is the seventh transuranium element. It was named in honor of Albert Einstein.
Einsteinium was discovered as a component of the debris of the first hydrogen bomb explosion in 1952. Its most common isotope, ein...

i heard about it in a video about the history of stuff. also theres some other obscure things named after other researchers (i forgot most of them)

There's a large amount of real world names for minerals (usually these end with ...ite).
For a list, the wiki offers a good resource here
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_minerals

I do like this idea, especially the idea of random drops from resource nodes which iiuc isn't really possible with the current game.
Iiuc the only random portion that's currently used in a game is the randomly reduced drops of certain resources if a ship part is destroyed (and technically asteroid resource nodes are also ship parts).

Adding asteroids based on such minerals (real world or fictional) could I think really add to the game, but it would be a lot of work for sure especially if you want to give it proper visuals while also wanting to make it look visually interesting.

This is a list of minerals which have Wikipedia articles.
Minerals are distinguished by various chemical and physical properties. Differences in chemical composition and crystal structure distinguish the various species. Within a mineral species there may be variation in physical properties or minor amounts of impurities that are recognized by m...

# naive silo einsteinium

Einsteinium is a chemical element. It consists of a single type of atom.

Usually minerals contain multiple types of chemical elements, often with very distinct physical properties and very different ways in which the minerals are formed (usually a specific combination of temperature and pressure and the presence of other elements or minerals).

I'm not sure what you meant with omnifactory ores, but the only thing I can think of is a factory that can refine a certain ore into multiple base resources or something?

I think it would be nice to have a single ore be able to be split up into multiple resources, but I think this would necessitate the presence of a more elaborate factory system in cosmoteer using things like more switches, expanded tech trees, more and more complex types of factories, etc.

It would be interesting to me, but I'm not sure adding such a system would benefit the base game.

just add all ores from the omnifactory mod (for minecraft) into cosmoteer for fun

#

also theres like 100

yes.

I personally don't have anything particular against it btw, I actually like the whole manufacturing chains thing, but I would like it to make sense and not just add tons of factories and nuisance just so there are a 100 of them.
I've been considering adding some more factories (less than 100 :P) to one of my own mods, but I'd also not want to make the menu's look too cluttered (especially considering people may want to play with other mods as well that may be adding their own factories).

i really dislike the clutter
