Why are the only things we can make military or industrial? why cant we grow civilian stuff on board our ships? it wouldnt impact PvP much, but it would be so cool to see habitat space stations in career, or massive ships a la craftworlds that are basically planets with food production and stuff. (food would be sold but not eaten and would deteriorate over time, maybe also giving a work buff to crew)
ideas:
modular fishing pond that crew can fish at to generate raw fish resources
-two parts: water tile that crew fish at and cant be passed through by crew and hatchery that stocks it with fish (the larger the body of water the more hatcheries are needed, but small ones cant have fish in them) (hatchery requires power and crew to man it)
-modular farm to grow wheat etc at (requires power)
-bakery/kitchen to cook raw fish plants etc into more valuable cooked food (requires power)
-possibly other things

Crew sex update, they commit mitosis
But yeah, having space cities sounds fun
If crew needed food that would be really immersive as well
Imagine a crew drug that makes them move 50% faster but makes them super hungry after a while
There would be a small food generator in each starting ship, sufficient for 10 crew or something
It grows food on energy
less "need" so much as "small buffs"
cause having to add needs sounds like hell unless its an optional setting turned off by default
and so an entire new thing pvp ships now have to spend money on instead of optimisations was added
shouldn't have cr points and a food need at the same time
both do basically the same thing
nah it should be a small buff if you have it type thing
if anything
small buff like crew move 3% faster
i feel like i saw somewhere that the hardest thing for the game is having a bunch of crew pathfinding around so if they figure that out and we can have a ton of people then YES i super duper want space cities
maybe alongside that could be really big tiles that are just super efficient resource production, so once we get to the point where we can have our own faction we'll need to protect it and we'll need a bunch of like ammo and stuff and maybe space cities like that with civilians doing civilian things could be like 'the core' of a space empire
idk
lmao
Not that much we can do about crew without making the ai lower quality, since cosmoteer ships aren't exactly predefined, taking damage and that stuff, fires, and with crew boarding we will have other crew for the crew AI to do stuff with
Yeah this would be great for when we get to make a full faction of our own, as a sort of passive income for our stations
It would also be cool to have specialized stations (ai ones) like defense stations that are huge and well armed, trade ones that are like our current ones, industrial stations that are mostly factory, and habitat stations that are full of crew
They could give different missions too like an industrial one asks for raw metals and pays you to send its produced stuff to other stations, military ones would ask for ammunition and possibly (when shipyards are added) new ships, trade ones want trade goods and to hunt pirates, and habitat ones want you to deliver their products to other stations/hunt pirates
The pirate hunting on the more “civilian” stations is just because like “pirates are disrupting our trade” or “pirates have attacked and kidnapped our people” while a star fort could just deal with the pirates itself
honestly I could go for a big decorative part expansion , acts as nothing but passive income or filler for ship crew to distract themselves at until an assignment is needed. Already imagining gardens with domes in the spines of civilian cabal ships harboring life and such
Yeah
