ion armor would become an ion capacitor
problem is if you move the beam just a cm to the right it would offsync
kind of just makes mirror matches between ion rammers, a battle of who has the bigger ion core, and if you did not bring the bigger one you just lose
I'd suggest the Magicka approach instead and either make them cause an explosion on collision (it is after all causing two particles to collide) or change their angle
yeah if your smaller you use that to your advantage and orbit
a mirror match means the same type of ship, an ion rammer is a ship with a non- aimable beam behind good defense, and the objective is to ram the enemy and kill them with focused damage, orbiting is not exactly something that can be done
something like this, it's beams become useless when against something with 3+ merged beams, and all damage is useless for it
What if there was an ion range extender but the way it worked is that it halved the damage output of your ion but i would double the range? And it would have the same power falloff as the ion prisms. [off topic but just an idea]
600 range on a hitscan weapon that can increase it's damage with more of itself, sounds like a kite but without the railgun's weight
I mean having a weaker energy based kiting alternative would be awesome
a perfectly-accurate hitscan weapon with railgun range is a bit OP regardless of damage
