This is a potential addition they could add with the faction v faction conflitcs, There could be huge fleet battles you could assist in, or ignore between 2 sides. WIth this there also could be home regions for each faction where it is heavily fortified and they ahve a main space station/planet where a huge battle could happen. This is just a fun addition they could add if not already planned for the future update to come.
