Most projectile weapons, when fired, move in straight lines or circle their target, with behavior that cannot be altered by players. But what if players had a weapon they could tweak the behavior of?

Weapons with adjustable behavior like smart missiles provide immense versatility, especially when combined with the myriad of possible ship designs. Adjustable speed, attack angle, and explosion size (with larger payloads making the missile more fragile and weaker to PD and flak) makes each strategy unique, each ship even more different than the last.

Who knows what players will devise next with smart missiles?

Il be honest though I don’t see why players would need to have codable ai missiles to only go one certain way it would just make the missiles miss ships more often and not help much

yeah it would only help for very very niche scenarios

Though the other part of being able o have more dmg and larger aoe is quite strong

Why even add a new part? HE missiles already to the same thing just without the player controlled part.
But it would be interesting for this to be implemented for the vanilla missiles.
