everything was working fine until I tried to xfer stuff between ships one time after patching the game. Then the option greyed out, but I can still use the comms button to accomplish the same goal. anooying, but not game breaking.

I am also running into this bug when I split my ships up. I have a pair of smaller ships that go around and fight, and a mining/collection ship that is on a different schedule through the system (this mining ship was also my first ship). When the pair are on their own, they can't transfer to each other (can be mitigated with hail) or to commandeer ships (cannot be mitigated with hail), but when I bring my flagship nearby they can all transfer again
