#Hire mercenary ships that automatically execute commands or do missions

maybe with their own moral system. who can betray when their needs are not met etc. or even support their mission goal instead of destroying it etc.

azure tusk
#

Sooooooooooooo you want for free backup for The cost of money so basically no one will use this as money would be better spend making your ship fight for more money to upgrade them

#

Your hiring ships for the price of even more then your mission rewards will be and repair costs

#

If damaged

#

Or mercenary’s become a thing you can buy and throw at enemy’s to distract them not wasting your own which becomes bit too strong a distraction for enemies tho I guess that depends on the size your ship if it’s bigger then the mercenary’s yours gets shot anyway

hollow moon
#

it shouldn't be easy. simply a nice function by the way that doesn't completely affect the gameplay. Of course, you should keep pushing yourself to make progress. then you have to see how you balance that out. the mercenary ships don't have to be successful either. maybe you can do the missions where you can no longer earn crew members to get resources. or you have a lot of options how strong the ships will be but also have a certain price. or maybe they want you to do something for them then.

#

maybe the mercenary ships cost money over time. and maybe unexpectedly want other things in between. just increase their pay and if you don't pay they will attack. something like that would be nice surprises in the game.

hybrid nebula
#

Buy a mercenary ship, kill mercenary ship, take mercenary ship resources that dropped, profit, then do it all again

hollow moon
#

I'm sure the devs are smart enough so you can't exploit something like that

azure tusk
#

Giving them police just gives them more free resources , not giving goving police also makes sense their mercenary’s not apart of any faction so they die they die no one comes to help them dice they get paid to die

#

You send them in both your enemy and they die you get double profit

#

That or their too expensive to be worth using either way

#

Since why would you spend money on temporary hips for ONE mission

#

While you could upgrade your ship with that money to do Multiple times

#

As I keep saying to these new people to cosmoteer , please think of everything such as the balancing , how it will effect anything and everything in the game , the nerf , the buff the wherever and would it even be worthwhile to use or fun to use or even be worth Walt’s time to deal with all these issues to add something that may or may not be used

hollow moon
#

azler it's just an idea that would spice up the game with more options. how this is implemented remains with the devs. maybe the mercenary ships are made of a material that you can't use yourself, for example. don't be so narrow minded. after a while it just gets boring like it is now. you should rather be open to new things and think about how to implement it instead of making big talk about newcomers here.

azure tusk
# hollow moon azler it's just an idea that would spice up the game with more options. how this...

This is true but you also are supposed to come up with ideas of how to implement it otherwise it will never be a feature as Walt would have to do all the effort to add a feature the community asked for , giving balancing and ideas is part of this threads point so if the community and Walt like a idea it’s not more trouble for him to add by thinking of all of these things beforehand for him

azure tusk
azure tusk
#

So put in the effort and THINK then

hybrid nebula
#

The big question is why use this feature, when you can just design a railfan and kill the enemy without the cost of a mercenary, without the cost of anything really

azure tusk
#

Not my problem most people here avoid critisism to their ideas on how it COULD work ingame without providing counter arguments or ways to prevent such things

#

Instead providing excuses like oh but this exists so this.

azure tusk
#

and drones are already planned to be implemented

hollow moon
#

ah so this is the cosmoteer community. Better to counteract it instead of getting involved productively. Why use this feature? Because you can and it would be a different way of playing. Not everyone wants to minmax. That's really not the way I want to have discussions here. Nobody said anything about drones. useless junk or the like that you can sell for little money or whatever. How uncreative can you be? If you think the idea sucks then don't write at all. Otherwise, write about how this can be established in a balanced way. I'm just a player who likes the game a lot but notices how the fun of playing goes away once you've finished it and so I'm giving a few ideas here so that I might want to play the game again sooner or later. It's obvious that I'm not the only one feeling this way.

azure tusk
# hollow moon ah so this is the cosmoteer community. Better to counteract it instead of gettin...

You litraly typed the mercenary ships are made of a material that you can’t use yourself implying it’s just a drone for you to use by buying it because it’s made of something you can’t have for some reason which makes no sense in this game unless you meant the reason for you wanting to use mercenary’s over you upgrading your own ship is because they have op weapons and armour which makes people want to use them but not attack them but wouldn’t this also make people want to kill them for these unobtainable wepaons?? That’s just not the wha the game is you can get everything , also drones aren’t just buying and selling ??? Their for attacking think carrier fighters , also you clearly don’t like critisism high tells me you don’t want this idea implemented I’m saying things that could possibly happen if this idea is implemented and you give no refute to how to fix thoes issues or how you think it could be implemented , I never sead the idea sucks , I like the idea hence me upvoting it, uncreative? Says the one who doesn’t want to to be creative on ways to possibly make the idea work without it causing issues to the game or being something most people won’t use if implemented wasting Walt’s time

#

It’s not just about your little fun ideas that you would in your dreams have this added , it’s also about thinking of ways your idea could work and not just be a waste of time to add and possibly become a thing that ruins the games balance or never being used

#

It’s not just on Walt to do all the work for you to waste his time to figure out eventually that this idea would not work well when implemented into the game and not just sounding like a fun idea on paper

#

The idea of mercenary’s sound fun and a neat idea on paper but what happens when it’s actually impelemented into the game , none of you that post these ideas think of any do this.

hollow moon
#

It was also more about being able to interact with them and their peculiarities. That they don't do exactly what is expected but can also work cunningly against the player. The more variety and unforeseen things happen. in a variety of ways. These ships can challenge you. can cheat you.

azure tusk
#

Yes there is no issue with giving ideas it’s good for the game but when someone talks about how it could affect the game don’t just deny everything sead as crazy talk and that Walt alone would somehow figure out a sulution for everything

While not everyone wants to min max, not all railfans are, it's a type of ship, just cannon walls or DC bricks are,
The question is why use this when it isn't a very great way _of _playing, either it is just buy a mercenary, wait for it to kill your target for you, which isn't exactly playing really, or you are just sacrificing them for your own material benefits, the best way of use would just be material gain from killing them,
Unless you don't, then you are kind of just wasting money for something not that useful,
There isn't much of a need for a new way to play, when no one will play that way,
You can always mine and do explore missions when playing career without a single kill, but generally that isn't really how players play even though it is an option that can be played

azure tusk
#

Also ai are usually worse then players on fights just remember that

azure tusk
hollow moon
#

It's an idea, and should Walt read it, he may or may not be interested and have his own idea of how to implement it in a fun way his way. As if you had to chew everything in advance. If he hasn't had the idea yet, he might have it now. No time wasted. Yes, maybe it's gambling, but it would still be exciting to try something like that. In the end, depending on the decisions you make, good or bad things could come out of it. Then you get pushed back a bit. It's not like you can't get it back. And if it works, it's easier to do. Wouldn't it be much better to be able to spend your resources money or maybe rewards on more things than your ship

azure tusk
#

You can always play creative build fleets for roleplay , play with friends with custom scenarios and custom game modes , play pvp , participate in tournaments , paint ships or edit old ships , play more career mode in harder versions, etc

hollow moon
#

Maybe but these things have no ``play again value

I hate when discussions occur in Ideas and feedback

azure tusk
agile cave
#

A way I see this being implemented is by making those "mercenary ships" work somewhat similar as it does with repairing/recovering an enemy ship, you can control it but you can't make changes to the ship, and to add those random circumstances it may be due to making them fight a ship that's bigger than theirs or fighting a faction that they're allied with

agile cave
azure tusk
agile cave
azure tusk
agile cave
#

outside of that its just a ship of your own until said otherwise

agile cave
azure tusk
#

Or just oh here a thing when someone points out what could happen when it’s implemented oh no instead of thinking of ways to implement it better they ignore the issues sead

agile cave
#

No clue about that

#

neither do I care

azure tusk
# agile cave I think that they should obtain about 5% of the credits of every mission they ta...

Ok another thing would this not just make people always use them for missions that aren’t faction war missions without any consequences if you deside to let their ship die meaning you can’t pay for their repairs , what happens when their ship dies actually do you still pay for repairs when their is no one to send the bill to with all the dead crew , would it be a new faction or would you be buying them from current factions so that you then have to pay for the price and gain a bad reputation with the faction if their ships did in that combat

hollow moon
#

That sounds great. But that would be a simple version of what I mean. yes, you could reinforce yourself differently, but the basic path would be the same and the variety that you actually wanted. Maybe it'll come across better if I call them pirates to hire. Doing unforeseen things and not knitting moves the game forward. More ups and downs and problems to fix. Difficult to explain @agile cave

agile cave
#

Gotcha

hollow moon
#

yeah hiring from factions are a great idea too

agile cave
#

Yay I stopped a stupid ass discussion

hollow moon
#

xD

azure tusk
#

When I told them how the idea would probubly work out if it was added ingame

azure tusk
hollow moon
#

Maybe these mercenary ships have some kind of mother ship where you sort things out. In my mind you could hire these freelancers on the normal dealer platforms. Is it possible to implement them in such a way that they belong to the respective factions

azure tusk
#

Also wouldn’t pirates want what more cash for doing the work ?

azure tusk
hollow moon
#

These pirates simply raise the price or want something in return in the form of attacking factions or or or. There's a lot of ways they can get angry. For example, if one of your ships does not come home safely.

azure tusk
#

Uhhh currently no

#

But there will be docking alter on

#

So it might be possible In the future

#

To hire docked ships

hollow moon
#

Well, the bases that are already in the game for example

azure tusk
azure tusk
#

Later on when docking comes possibly

hollow moon
#

yeah with docking ship is also an good idea

azure tusk
hollow moon
#

for example

azure tusk
#

If they die there is nothing they can do

hollow moon
#

hmm pirate bases or mercenary bases whatever. Should have a bigger player indestructible station in the galaxies. Or be so strong that you can't do it at first

azure tusk
#

Everything is obtainable and everything is destroyable

hollow moon
#

With a moral system. So if the factions realize that your hired ships could be constantly being destroyed, that could also have further consequences for the player

azure tusk
#

That already exists for factions

hollow moon
#

i mean that the base is so strong that u will loose the fight

azure tusk
#

That’s the whole point of the game

#

I’m geninly curious at this point , how many hours on the game do you have ?

hollow moon
#

You can't go into the level 18 area and win the battles with a starter either

#

260 h

azure tusk
hollow moon
#

so why not a mercenary state a few levels higher than you in the galaxy then. Stop the one you negotiate with and who gives you ships

azure tusk
# hollow moon 260 h

Ok so just to confirm you never played with the fighting against factions and have reached lvl 18 area in career

#

Since you didint know about stations being fighable and there is reputation system that sends police after you and worse trade offers

hollow moon
#

Well, whenever I attacked factions, the timer went down and there were no consequences in the long term

#

I then always chose a faction in which I was in good standing, I farmed the rest

#

or did I miss something?

azure tusk
azure tusk
#

They send more police at you in theirnteritory and also refuse to sell you or give you super high prices to buy anything

#

Admittedly in the future it would be nice if they added more harsher consequences

hollow moon
#

it's about a different kind of morality. Needs, if you will, that must be met when working with them. Things they ask for, whether justified or not, so that they can also work against the player and support the enemy. Supporting the mission goal that you should destroy, for example It's not a fixed concept what I posted there.

#

u can also farm station from faction that gives a lot of resources an sell it to ur goodstanding faction

azure tusk

You don't need to kill mercenaries directly, explode a reactor beside one
