I would love for PvP to be more accessible.

Suggest to allow for dedicated PvP servers, with options such as:
-Automatic rotation of Game mode at time interval
-Pre-defined team spending value, player ship amount
-Pre-set forced start/ready time.
-Set server maximum players
-Game time interval (5min, 10min)
-Game speed (full, half)
-Game mode: Free for all (last man standing), Team deathmatch, team domination etc.

-Define minimum team size (2, 3 etc), If possible, fill empty 'slots' with AI ships, so in practice, one player could play 'PvP' against bots.

-Map randomization parameters (asteroid size/amount)
-Custom/modded arena backgrounds.

-Pre generated maps, with possible enviromental hazards (akin to ring of death), possibly shield depleting zones, reload time increase zones, shipwide DC stun on asteroid crash etc.

-More game modes? (Base protection, escort, capture the flag etc.)

-Alternate victory conditions and 'point' gain, i.e. value of damage done, ships disabled, kill assists etc.

Besides having some automation and some mechanics you offered. Isn't all of this possible and being done by players already? There are often duel lobbies where the host will tweak the settings depending on preferences.

As far as I know Walt does intend to add additional game modes

i was thinking of having all settings and rotations set up in advance, for a 'headless' server, requiring little to no interaction to play

this would probably not be very good as usually when you join a game of a certain game mode, u want to keep playing it
and if everyone wants to switch they can eiter make a new game or ask the host to change

could be nice except it can already be done by clicking start countdown

this is standardized (for elim at least, dom is often at 1x or 1/2x)

host can just choose it? why would u take away player choice

if you want to play against ai, u can host an empty passworded/closed game
ai is very different from human players and not very good at the game

asteroid count can be chosen, too many parameters is bad though imo since then you can make settigns rigged in your favor

just mod it yourself?

could be interesting, might make old minefieldesque fights where everyone just stares at each other though

observers already exist? recording is also done automatically

the main point is is there's not really a point to doing this

i think it is seperate. Problem is, if you want to jump into a pvp game right now, you can't easily do that. If there were dedicated servers pre-configured available at all hours, anyone could pvp any time, without the hassle of manually hosting.

2-3 server stations, a dedicated multiplayer communication channel, and generally PvP lobbies are the first things you see in stations
