back then before crew roles was implemented thats how we have to build ships so that crews dont keep running end to end of a ship
i do agree tho having fame be how many crews u can have hired is alot better than a hard cap of amount crew that can be hired

It's both. If you lose a bunch of crew, and the station hasn't restocked, then you're basically stuck, since the only crew available would be the ones at the higher fame level
Yes Sirlyon is right, fame scales back! I lost so many crew members when i was maxed and then i just replaced them.
Yes thats the way it works, i made a small test and fame for crew scales back, if the station is out of crew you need to wait for traders to restock it.

If no one is available at the station just wait. When ships arrive sometimes crew can be hired again. Also you can hire crew from other ships. Losing a chunk of crew already isnt a death sentence
should I remove this post and try to reproduce the bug then?
perhaps, ideally try to limit misinformation, get back here when you replicate with a link to said post may also work too
ok, ill leave it up for now because theres no other post commenting on this subject, but if I cant reproduce the bug today ill remove it
you can hail a friendly ship and they might have crew to hire, but overall if we loose too much crew is a reload, because it is too much hassle to recover
