#1: Weapons not shooting the weapon next to it (on the same ship), if this doesn't seem like an option, then an option to make it 'higher' (like it decreases weapon effectiveness, or crew travel time, or smth).
#2: On the main menu, (where it says 'Career mode or Creative Mode'), A 3rd mode, editor mode, that you can create a fully custom mode, like the trade station abilities for creative mode, and stuff like that.
#3: At the start of career mode (and easily found in creative mode), an option/menu to create/join a faction.
#4: For career mode, when you're building a ship, a selection menu would be nice, like to classify the ship type. (for instance, I was playing and has a cargo ship (couldn't afford weapons for it) and an enemy ship began shooting at me, i couldn't run and didn't have any weapons to fight with.), So it would be nice to have the tags so an enemy ship would not shoot at a cargo ship if it's unarmed, or a escort wouldn't take on a cruiser. So only if the classes match would the enemy attack first.
#4.1; when i said "if it's unarmed" that will be continued here: A catagory for the ships to be Unarmed, Lightly Armed, Heavily armed, or Armed.

About #4, I don’t think that would work. They’re pirates looking for loot, they have no good reason not to attack a defenseless freighter filled with loot.
Instead, maybe you could hail them and offer them money, or resources, and in turn they’ll leave you alone for a while.
