So what I was thinking is that there are multiple teams.
Every team has 10 - 15 minutes (depending on the round) to build a ship within a certain pricerange.
After the building is done, every ship from every team built gets spawned in an arena where they fight until one ship is left
Like this are 5 rounds. In my opinion the rounds should go like this:

Round 1 : 10 minutes build time : max. 85000 cost
Round 2 : 20 minutes build time : max 140000 cost
Round 3 : 30 minutes build time : max 350000 cost
Round 4 : 40 minutes build time : max 500000 cost
Round 5: 40 minutes build time : max 1000000 cost
Ships made before this match cannot be used!

Maybe even make the stats per round configurable.

What's preventing players from just pre-designing ships at those price limits instead of building them on the fly?

It'd be hard to memorise a ship beforehand and build it perfectly on the fly, especially with a timer

I'd have to turn off the ability to load specific blueprints. And even if I did that, you could just take a screenshot and copy it

^that is a legitimate issue that is likely not fixable

I think it's potentially fixable by adding some randomly-determined restrictions to ship designs, such as:

  • randomly determined allotment of resources you can use
  • random numbers of each type of part

Probably as a default, with maybe an option for asymmetric?

Maybe but that might create too big of disparity between the players which they might find unbalanced

Like if someone got emps disruptors and such and the other was heavily shield reliant
