#leveling system

i think it's gonna break some of the game design
Nope. Its the best choice for feature.
Game doesn't really fit this style imo, I'd rather get rewarded for having a properly set up ship then speninding random skill points into a random tree
Games not really a RPG
this idea is basically FTL meets Build-a-Ship
@quasi swan adding leveling is not hurting anybody.
I believe that there is a chance for crew to have certain buffs depending on their species (alien), but Walt hasn’t decided if he’ll add that. But if he did, then higher fame crew could do better than lower I guess?
It could kinda give you the feel you want.
But depending on how much freedom modders can get in full release, this could potentially be modded in but only after quite a while.
it’s a lot of data to store when each and every crew member has 17 skills that they could level up
Ok but it's not a RPG, you don't have a si gle character you level up
Just because something can be added doesn't mean it should
If anything individual crew should either have a small skill tree, or just have different crew races
Crew Races and maybe special modules that can give Crew… suits I guess? Like one can give a slight change to their astronaut suit that can make them salvage a bit faster. That is about as close as you could get to skill tree/system.
you could maybe have some weird skill tree with ship wide bonus’ but that seems really out of place here
Issue is how would that be applied and to what extent would it make boost module usless
And how would this apply to MP?
Rimworld moment
Would work best if it only affects ships in my opinion...
you mean the engine room?
Most likely a small buff.
Not that much of a game changer.
Le options of course...
someone puts all the points into speed
