On the edit tab, click a cube and click the "element" tab next to transform below "Edit | Paint | Display" and change "Light Emission" to 15 or lower. In light areas it won't show up as much of a difference, you will need to use brighter colors to signify bright spots.

Hmm, if you are using this for a resource pack you will need to have it be a Java Item/Block Model or a CEM model. The emissive textures for the Java Item/Block Models only apply to like 1.21.?+
