Hey everyone! I'm a generalist 3D artist, and I've had a lot of fun making custom textures and models for minecraft in blockbench. I'd love to be able to do the same with Hytale. Currently, I'm just trying to make a simple sweater. I'm wondering if anyone has the time to sit down and write a set of steps on how to do this? Or possibly, anyone got a link to a detailed guide? The most helpful answers I've found boil down to "look at how the vanilla armor is and do the same thing" but I'm just not sure what I'm supposed to be looking for exactly. I'd really appreciate if there were some sort of resource that detailed what I need to look out for to make sure it's done right. I might just be stupid, but in that case, could someone help this dummy out?

I'll detail my attempts below:

My first attempt was to just take the Mithril Chest armor and remove everything I didn't need. Scale things a little differently so it looked like a sweater. Then I added the folders I saw in the Mithril gauntlets armor to make the sleeves on the sweater. I imported it to Hytale and everything of course was in the wrong position. I learned this is because of the pivot points of the folders each mesh belongs to. Experimenting to find the correct placement of the pivot point is a nightmare. Even if the placement is correct, that doesn't mean it follows the animations correctly.

Second attempt: Made a new file, imported the player model, imported the mithril chest armor as an attachment, edited it like last time to make the sweater. My hope was that using the player model would preserve the correct pivot points. Then I removed everything I didn't need and imported it to Hytale. It just didn't render at all, it was invisible. So clearly now there's something else I'm just completely missing.
