Im in a miserable state right now , I've been following a tutorial for a lowpoly arm , and for the rigging he did a lot of loop cuts in between , but to my knowledge there's only the base loop cut that had to be moved from the center of the face , making me constantly have to move and resize parts to make them look right

#

And not with the weight paint, since the fingers are so close to each others there's no reasonable way of doing this , even more aggravated by the stuttering when the weight tool is selected

can you share the tutorial link? Might be able to help if I can see what the process was.

Sure

The part where i struggled is at 18:50

Okay, a few things.

  1. When you made that first loop cut and dragged it, it didnt make 2 cuts. Since the faces are already sloped, moving it will or increase or decrease the angle. It looks like you need to create 2 loops instead to achieve this look. But it also looks like there are verticies in the joint area to help with bending.

  2. I think it's in the mtools plugin, but there's a button to hide everything but selection. I don't know if this works on mobile, but it may already be an option if you customize your toolbar. That may help in isolating areas you want to. Keep in mind it can act up when you're using an armature. Sometimes it will hide the entire armature.

  3. This may be a stupid question, but is there a specifc reason you need hands this complex? Understandable if you want complexity, but i feel like you might be able to get a satisfactory hand without doing everything this person did. If youre really set on this look that's fine, but translating a blender process into blockbench can be more trouble than it's worth.

Thanks for the quick reply

Those extra cuts are for better articulation , the tutorial did two loop cut surrounding the main edge , but I don't think you can really do targeted loop cuts along a face without moving it

I have that hide everything but selection tool , but it only works well if I have all of the faces visible so i can select them

Im making a survival game , the hands are this complex because of a process called rigging , where you do extra loop cuts in the areas that bend , so it gives more of a organic feel

#

I'll also probably just give up on the idea , i can't weight paint

#

It seems my hardware isn't strong enough for this

Re importing the model seems to let me paint again , bit if i switch tools it bugs

Yeah, block bench doesnt allow for the loops to slide.

I'm familiar with extra cuts for a more organic feel. I just wasn't sure what the end purpose was.

Weight painting lag isn’t related to week hardware, tmk. I use a PC with plenty of ram and still have issues at times. It's honestly just hard. You have to get the brush size and the way you paint right. I haven't tried weight painting outside of the desktop version and it can be tough there. So I imagine mobile is harder. I've found it easier to try and paint by individual vertex if it's not being accurate.

You talking about the automatic weight paint by vertex ( idk the name )?

#

Its a shame blockbench's loop cuts and weight paint perform so poorly for now, i was getting excited

Maybe im asking too much for a 3D modelling software that's focused on minecraft / hytale modeling

#

As i was talking about its very laggy , but I can paint by tapping multiple times on a point

#

It'll just take very long tho

#

And it'll be annoying

yeah absolutely

You might be right tbh. That's why I asked why you were trying to make something more complex in blender translate to bb. It's not that it's impossible, but maybe what you want stylistically and technically are more than bb can offer. There's nothing wrong with doing low poly in blender, especially if you feel it has more to offer you.

I think bb can do a lot more than just Minecraft and hytale stuff, but idk if it's a great choice for building assets for a survival horror game in bb if you're looking for a high level of realism.

Its not like i have an option to use blender or sum

#

There was a " port " for it if I can remember, but its 3x more cluttered as blockbench

#

Its impossible to use

That's def real. Best of luck!
