genuine question, blockbench updated again (i have the elements update before this) and i thought it's just idk, a bug update. but now i can't find the add element/cube option

Maybe you need to be inside a group for it to show up 🤔 ?
You could also double check the toolbar whether "Add Element" and/or "Add Cube" are in there.

adding a group doesn't affect anything
