Why can´t I select some faces to edit them?

I'm having some issues with face selection, some faces of my model cannot be edited (I need to create a Loop Cut and then scale them), while others can. I don´t have a clue what´s going on here.

because all your orange elements are cube element, and your yellow element is a mesh element

If you wanna edit a cube element (and want it to stay a cube element) just scale or move it. No need to edit a single face.
