That ore texture, please rate it from 0 to 100 and say what I should add to make it better.

what is it>

#

the shape feels kinda off wtih that sudden right angle

what type of crystal

agile night
# frosty turtle what type of crystal

It's "Shaumium" I imagine that for my mod. It's has strange form because it's really fragile more fragile then gold and wood. And pickaxe cannot get that crystal without break part of it.

#

i feel like the broken part shouldnt be a perfect right angle

agile night

Maybe something else?

idk

Put a crack in it

I would just put a crack in it , maybe smaller ones from the sides, or one big one down the middle, however you want to make it

I think when people think of crystals they think of those funny rocks shaped like rectangles

#

Together they end up looking like a spiky rock

#

You could try that, flat ground, spiky sides and top

Check out quartz ore texture

#

It looks like a bunch of spikes

#

I'm not sure if it's all crystals or just a stereotype, but when i think of a crystal, it's a spiky rock made of a bunch of sharp-looking pillars

Some vanilla ores are seperated into sections too

#

With like, an outline going through making it look like its multiple bumps

#

Like iron ore

#

Or copper

agile night
#

Is that better?

teal imp
#

it looks more unique

#

sure

#

let me try something

agile night
#

I not a pro in pixel art... So I trying train my skill

#

It's my the fifth job is probably

teal imp
#

for some reason its a 256x256 image

#

so it made it impossibly painful to edit it, so ignore the image, probably

#

anyway this is how quartz looks

#

its meant to be a crystal-like ore

#

your first version is more like coal

#

well, every ore has something slightly unique about it

When someone say quarts In my memory I see only old one

teal imp

looked better too tbh

agile night
teal imp
#

to be honest

#

tbh

#

old quartz looked better

agile night
agile night
teal imp
#

either way, each person looks differently at models and textures

#

some may prefer crystalized ore

#

honestly the first one looks better

#

its also too symmetrical

#

both sides look the same

agile night
teal imp
#

i guess that's one way, you just need to experiment, make changes, experiment

#

variants, shapes, styles

agile night
teal imp
#

That looks cool, but it's not a crystal

#

Its more like a pearl imo

Some crystal like structure

agile night
honest pumice
#

Because thats how they textured it

#

to look like a shard

#

Of you want it to be a gem or stone of somekind I would suggest deciding on a unique shape, then roughing up the edge by adding dips and rough up the centre of the gem by adding riges in the texture

agile night

#

Then what you might be able to do is take some amethyst shards, overlap them together, and then overlay your texture onto that

#

Or try and make an imperfect circle that is broken up into peices

teal imp
#

Rocks are never symmetrical is what i meant

#

Or gems

I know I am quite late to this conversation but I have made 2 textures real quick that could be used as crystals. It really depends what type of style you are going for so these might not fit your taste.
