FAQ
Java: 1.8 Display

Some item display settings for Minecraft Java Edition worked differently in 1.8 compared to newer versions:

  • No distinction between left and right hand (so the displays are just called firstperson instead of firstperson_lefthand or similar).
  • Values for these slots are applied in a different way and aren't compatible.

Blockbench does not support these 1.8 display slots since they were already outdated for a few years when Blockbench first came out.

This mod mentioned here apparently lets you edit the display settings ingame (even for 1.8), but we can't officially guarantee anything since we didn't make the mod: #old-help-vanilla-java-block-item message

FAQ
Java: Armor

The armor model when worn on players/entities cannot be remodeled in vanilla Java edition, only retextured. Pumpkins and other items set on a player's head can be remodeled for custom hats, but won't display if set on feet/legs/torso.
(Any item can be put on the players head via the /item replace command (aka /replaceitem before 1.18), or ofc via mod or plugin methods).
Furthermore, with this pack you can give a large set of specific leather armor colors a unique texture without interfering with the colors available in a normal survival situation: https://github.com/Ancientkingg/fancyPants

With Optifine it is possible to add texture variants on any armor pieces depending on the name, damage and other nbt, but remodelling is also not possible with it.

he said "you can't render 3D armour in default Minecraft with a rp."

#

the way it would work basically

#

idk if u ever played cosmic factions but its a skin on that

#

basically

#

the skin itself would be an ender eye

#

with an nbt tag

#

u put that on any piece of armor ud like

#

and it would give u certain attributes

#

while also getting a cool render

as I (and the bot message) said, the model of armor cannot be changed (without making a mod)
