so far the only way ive achieved what im after is by deleting 3/6 faces (each face is also its own cube because inverted cube plugin refused to use emmisives)

(and depending on your UV format it might move the UV, not sure how it would work with box-uv for example 🤔 )

tribal carbon
#

ive never touched box UV, always looked a bit overcompliacted

#

plus i am getting in the habit of compacting faces if they are identical

carmine sapphire
#

yeah, per-face UV should work fine with it

#

not sure about the emissiviness part or why "inverted cube plugin refuses" it

tribal carbon
#

the issue is if i clear a face it shows the other side through

#

so i cant make a one way mirror effect

#

which is what im trying

carmine sapphire
#

yeah, you'd need an inverted cube for that

#

how exactly is emissiveness applied?

tribal carbon
#

what do you mean?

carmine sapphire
#

Well, you said the inverted cube plugin refuses emisives, but how exactly do you define something as "emissive" for Figura?

tribal carbon
#

same as basic optifine style

#

_e at the end of a texture file

carmine sapphire
#

then I don't see why an inverted cube would break that behaviour 🤔

tribal carbon
#

well it doesnt even render how it should withought emmisives

carmine sapphire
#

how does it render?

tribal carbon
#

just as if it was a base cube

#

exact same with and withought emmisive texture

#

shaders doesnt effect it

#

actually it seems like it IS rendering the emmisives

#

but it isnt making those faces transparent

tribal carbon
#

i will note

#

im using Iris for shaders not optifine

#

if that makes a differnce

hello, update from a friend: we fixed it.
solution: set the cube's primary rendertype to TRANSLUCENT_CULL, and then it works fine.
i don't think i can close the topic.

edit: i can ^^
