does anyone know how i can align these two cubes? im trying to make a sword

#

or atleast make it so that the end of the larger cube has a triangular point like im trying to make in this picture?

This can be fixed, however not in the typical drag and pulling method.

#

You have to adjust the position and size on the side with numbers.

#

When their is overhang like this cause by rotation you'll like need to use a pretty obtuse decimal sizing to fix it.

#

Simply decrease the size of the x axis.
There is a chance that it will shrink in size from the top and not the bottom.
This is fine, just updated the x axis position by the amount you have removed.
Essentially repeat this process until its flush.

#

This method is also one thats constantly used to prevent uv flickering.

ok ill give it a shot

#

you can resize it by scaling it while holding ctrl

#

and smaller by using shift + ctrl while scaling

๐Ÿ‘† @crystal mulch @rapid drift @fresh bough (there also is a vertex scaling option towards the end of that gif)

rapid drift

how do i get the vertex scaling to be option

fresh bough

tysm

mossy cedar

well, maybe not at the very beginning (since vertex snapping started out as plugin iirc), but it has existed for a few years now I think

#

first half of 2018

yeah, I'm just saying scaling wasn't a feature the first time vertex snapping was added (when it was still a plugin), but first half of 2018 the scaling option was added (and I think the plugin from SirBenet was integrated as actual feature around that time too)

I see

I assumed you were making a normal item model.

#

But that suggests you are likely making an entity model?

#

What one of these did you pick?

surreal aurora
#

Just wondered if it works

mossy cedar
#

it goes back if you'd go out of bounds

surreal aurora
#

But how do some item models have the weird angles that i see

mossy cedar
#

like, if you type in 200 for the x position it will limit it to something that won't make the element go out of the limitation of Block/Item models

crystal mulch
#

Oh I think he might be referring to rotation...

mossy cedar
#

in the case of Block/Item models only 0, +/-22.5 and +/-45 are allowed rotation values and only on one axis

surreal aurora
surreal aurora
#

But they can still rotate it weird

crystal mulch
#

If you show an example we can likely explain the how.

surreal aurora
#

But i can look if i find

#

Nvm it was an general model

crystal mulch
#

Yeah general models cannot be used in minecraft (maybe as an obj pepeSHRUG )

surreal aurora
#

Yeah they can be used as objects im pretty sure

#

Other they are items in an item frame

#

forget it i just wont question everything some things are just weird

crystal mulch
#

A "General" model from blockbench isn't designed for Minecraft, its simply a tool for designing things with cubes and pixels. Blockbench as a whole doesn't revolve soley around just minecraft.

surreal aurora
#

Yeah they use it for the wallpapers

#

With polys

crystal mulch
#

Like I said it may be possible with some obscure method, but generally if you wish to add it into minecraft, youll need to pick one of these.

#

depends on what you are doing and how.

#

You can still get compelling results even with the limitations.
Just requires smart design and some visual trickery.

surreal aurora
#

Ive seen everything possible with code

crystal mulch
#

Thats easier said then done

#

But is why I specified maybe as an OBJ, as objs do not have the same restrictions.

#

But they come with their own problems.

surreal aurora

I will just learn more blockbench the more i use it the more i will understand over time
