If so, how is this done? If not I would like to help make a plug-in to do this.

File > New > Generic Model, then drag and dropping the obj file in should work

That did nothing.

#

I tried using the "Open Model" button and I got an error: "Could not open json file: SyntaxError: Unexpected token '#', "# Blender"... is not valid JSON

This tells me Blockbench thinks my .obj files are .json files.

It does that with any obj model

#

Even those I made in blockbench and exported as .obj. Even when I remove the # and comment in the model code.

K, drag and drop doesn't seem to work,
but File > Import > OBJ Model works (when in a "Generic Model" project)

Thanks!
