Eh, it's personal taste. I'm fine with either look.

# ocean cave some skins look awful, but some skins look 100 × better with 3D Skin Layers

they don't go out far enough for me. like they should be a whole block away if they're gonna be doing that. plus it means skins where the pixels are black in front of rgb won't show the rgb. it goes from cool paper doll to wrinkled paper doll. idk it gives me the heebies. unnatural. the default kind is an abstract impression that informs imagination and in this one i'm like "why's the hair sticking like that" like if the stuff you saw with your glasses off was literally real.

but yeah you could model this on armour stands in vanilla, you'd just be doing it manually cuz minecraft doesn't have that feature. if you can make a template datapack or mod that does this (as in, template for teleporting armour stands with pixel art models) then you can offer it as a feature, that'd be cool to see even if it's not my thing.

if you don't mind desync that is

#

i heard you can do it now with display entities no armour stand

#

i'm trying to figure out how this mod handles the colouring of edge and vertice cubes

#

like if two joined pixels are different colours then what colour is the cube
