primal pasture
#

I only want to change the textures of the trident tho

#

not the entire model

#

I have the item done

sturdy nacelle
#

then you just edit the texture

primal pasture
#

how tho

sturdy nacelle
#

same way you edit any other texture in a resource pack

primal pasture
#

idk how to do stuff like a trident when held / thrown

sturdy nacelle
#

you said you want to edit the texture.... so just find the texture, and edit it

#

i dont understand the issue

primal pasture
#

I don't know how to edit the texture of that

#

that's the issue

sturdy nacelle
#

open it, and change the pixels in the image

#

same as anything else

primal pasture
#

where do I add the files for it

sturdy nacelle

Disclaimer: Use these packs as REFERENCE, don't put your models inside them, it just increases your pack needlessly. Also don't put any of the unedited files from it into your own pack. The distributions of default assets in your pack is illegal.

For Java Edition:
(This works the same for all versions, 1.17 is just used as an example here)
Go to .minecraft/versions/1.17 and open the 1.17.jar in there with a zip program. Alternativley you can copy the .jar file and change the file extension to .zip and double click it.
Extract/copy the "assets" folder inside the jar somewhere. It contains all the default models/textures.

For Bedrock Edition:
Go to https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/minecraft/creator/documents/resourcepack and scroll to "Building the Resource Pack". The download for the vanilla resource pack can be found right above that title.
Alternatively here is the direct download link: https://aka.ms/resourcepacktemplate

primal pasture
#

issue is idk where the file location for the trident is

sturdy nacelle
#

then look for it in the default assets

primal pasture
#

I'm only new to packs

#

I'm even more confused looking for it

sturdy nacelle
#

have you found the texture

primal pasture
#

no

#

idk what folder it'd be in in that

sturdy nacelle
#

use the search bar then and search for "trident"

primal pasture
#

nothing shows up

sturdy nacelle
#

where are you looking

primal pasture
#

wdym

sturdy nacelle
#

what folder did you do the search in

primal pasture
#

from minecraft in the pack

sturdy nacelle
#

what pack

primal pasture
#

I mean

#

the jar changed to a zip

sturdy nacelle
#

did you extract it?

primal pasture
#

no but I still can see the textures fine

sturdy nacelle
#

extract it

primal pasture
#

and code

#

why

sturdy nacelle
#

because then you can search it

primal pasture
#

idk how much space that takes up and my pc dosen't have much storage so I try to save it

sturdy nacelle
#

well you cant search it unless you extract it

primal pasture
#

would everything be able to find it

sturdy nacelle
#

its 39MB extracted

primal pasture
#

ima wait

sturdy nacelle
#

what

primal pasture
#

I also have no trust for myself :D

sturdy nacelle
#

just extract the zip and search it?

primal pasture
#

can you just tell me the folders I have to go through

sturdy nacelle
#

no, because you need to learn how you do this otherwise you will be asking every time where to find a texture

#

all you need to do is extract the zip, then search for trident, and you will find it

primal pasture
#

now I wait for it to extract

#

why is it so slow

sturdy nacelle
#

windows

#

if you use 7zip its a lot faster

primal pasture
#

just over half way :|

#

extracted it and deleted all but assets

#

I'm left with the assets folder

#

it won't let me change it to the colour I want with GIMP

sturdy nacelle
#

show?

primal pasture
#

I have this with some GUIs

#

it turns the colour into a differany colour

sturdy nacelle
#

the image is probably indexed

#

this means it is in a different colour mode

#

try Image → Mode → RGB

primal pasture
#

it's on RGB

sturdy nacelle
#

then idk what you are doing

#

try editing using blockbench image editor instead

primal pasture
#

only with some images

#

ima use MS pain... what is wrong with me

#

I need the colours tho

#

OH

#

me IQ 5
