so i have to then go to a backup of the project even tho backups are frequent this glitch is also frequent and makes me lose progress often

it happens when im doing anything animating, Texturing, modeling.

Well, there has to be some kind of common action(s) between those, cause I never have that problem for example.
Alternatively you can try running the Blockbench installer again to see if that fixes the problem (in case it is a pure program error)
