Title, when I drag the scale on something the element expands in both directions instead of only the one I want to adjust it on, so I have to move it again. And I want to see the exact height/width of elements too, but for some reason on the HUD that space's just blank... is this a settings issue or am I just too used to non-lowmesh?

Hold Alt while scaling (doing this for a cube maxes it scale in both directions btw., so basically the opposite controls)
Meshes have no "scale" values because the moment you edit one vertex the values make no sense anymore (and editing them would lead to weird results I assume)

You could use a cube element for size reference I guess
