Hmmm, I think the black of the vents is too dark
hm ok
Maybe the amount of shades on this black is too high too
something like this a little better?
Ah, I think the contrast between the eyes and more brown-ish background is too low
alright
i'll try changing it from brown a little
could also make the background the same color as the eyes which makes it look like the inside is darker..
I'd go with that
Try to emphasize shine on the edges more as right now it looks a little too soft
You can have a bit of shading in the middle but there should be a dominant shine on the edge which indicates that the surface is very reflective, like here
What you currently have is not bad, but just keep in mind for the future
I do think that's mainly a matter of style though
Well, no, not really. Metals reflect lots of light regardless of style. It's just how they behave
yeah it is a bit of a stylistic thing i do
i know it ends up noisy but i dont really like doing large-ish spaces with single shades
Well yeah, but how much you emphasize the edges of a model is up to style. It conveys hard edges in your model, which not all styles do
That's an obstacle I face too which is why I tend to put random things like midshades and other objects like vents, but I always find that it'll look ok if you emphasize the shine
I guess to put my advice in bottomline words: The shine should be emphasized more in metals, however the artist chooses to do that
the artist mostly chooses how to do that
There's a lot of different ways you can put shine on surfaces
alright something a little different from the metal, i changed the hat to be brown so it sticks out more
