I am trying to create a villager texture/resource pack for minecraft java with optifine. When there's a bunch of villagers around it gets laggy pretty fast. I tried looking for tips for optimization but haven't found much. I know that angled blocks are kinda bad but how bad,? How many blocks are too much? Is 32 bit textures significantly worse than 16 bit? Any tips to help me optimize would be appreciated!
#Any Tips to Optimize Models?

show your model
depends on your model size, if say your villager model has 400+ cubes with 256x or higher texture size with a lot of blank space or too many colors, yes it can lag a lot. Especially if say the UVs are set to per-face UV
What does the per face UV do? is it when the faces are different layers or?
can you show the model
per face wont change performance
Do you want me to send the full object file or?
screenshot it in blockbench fullscreen
for me it did, at least with my warden model that had around 300-ish cubes and had been scaled down with per-face
are there multiple modes in one here
Yeah baby and adult
Do they stack multiple models on top of each other or replace?
Sorry I'm pretty new at this, I don't get what this does
Oh you mean for variants?
Like I can have different model variants instead of using one and stacking all the textures and blocks on it?
Would multiple models be better than one with multiple textures?
yes
Thanks
Hey, whatever happened to the random_models.properties file?
Thanks!
Also, is it possible to use multiple block parts to add up to one?
Different jem file parts added to one jem
