Can anyone tell me why when you select cubes using control, it selects those elements, and also other random elements that you didn't even select?

Ctrl clicking only adds a cube to the selection
SHIFT clicking will add that cube as well as all cubes between the one you clicked before and the one you just clicked (based on the order in the Outliner). So the same exact way it behaves in file explorers.

By control selecting, i mean dragging your mouse and creating a selection box

I am working a relativity large project and it's selecting cubes far away from the element it's supposed to select.
