Can I just use Optifine for the Resource Pack? Why should I install fabric mods instead?

If you really don't care about performance and just want something simple that works out of the box, you can use optifine and the resource pack will work. (optifine is no longer worth-it for performance increases it falsely advertises)

If you do care about performance, as well as easily using other community made mods (such as these pinned here #community-general message), the fabric mod-packs are going to overall be way better for performance + allows you to add in other mods.

Some community made fabric modpacks (that will just work, very little install-setup required):

I hate to bother you in regards to this but will these fabric mods break anything if used on other servers?

for the lightweight packs, its going to depend on if the server is requiring other client side stuff, usually you can just log on without issue assuming the server isnt requiring other special stuff.

Sometimes slimes in other servers look like monu slimes, but other than that I've not noticed anything else from my pack

i think you need to download the resource pack separately and put that in your resource pack folder
