R3's focus towards more mechanically based boss fights have definitely been a shift I really enjoy. Coming from a Destiny raiding background, PORTAL and MR (haven't done but heard stuff about it) has been a very interesting and, personally, healthy shift for the game.
I do have one problem with it though, and that's the problem with mechanics in the boss that isn't introduced throughout the strike. Previous content has faced this issue, but I don't think it's been very prominent because mechanically challenging bosses haven't really been apart of Monumenta other than world bosses.
The problem arises when mechanics are thrown at you all at once without introduction. PORTAL didn't face this issue too much because there is a 'prerequisite' for SoS1 and SoS2 but MR introduces completely new mechanics that you don't have the time to learn due to it being a) a timed strike and b) thrown at you only at the boss.
Trial and error becomes necessary to figure out these mechanics and it's very unenjoyable when each time an attempt is made to learn more, you need to pay 16 AR (the price differs based on whether you're hosting). Each strike ends up becoming disrespectful to player time and money (if you care).
Having the same mechanics in the boss throughout the strike but split up into smaller sections makes it easier for players to pick them up and incentivises playing the content. People will still play it as it is, but it's hostile to players who have never attempted it for the first time.
SKT doesn't face this issue solely because you can try the boss without any cost. You aren't limited by your wallet, just by time. If you're a Monumenta player, that's an infinite resource. I don't really have anything to suggest without it either overhauling the whole content or making it super obvious to players since I think handholding is not good, but an introduction of boss practice modes would definitely be desirable.
