#My take on the glorious battle change

Heyo! Recently glorious battle was changed as follows:

  • Glorious Battle: 20/30 -> 20/25 damage; if activated while a charge is already active, damage and effects from the first are canceled; 6 -> 4 max targeting mobs for level 2 passive; decreased velocity

I definitely agree that 1): glorious battle stacking damage could be pretty cracked, and 2): glorious battle was one of the best movement skills in the game, when berserker wasn't meant to be particularly mobile. That explains the decreased velocity and the removal of battle stacking.

However, glorious battle actually received three extra damage nerfs from this changelog:

1: Five less damage at lvl 2, which is around 25% less.

  1. 6 -> 4 max targeting mobs at level 2, which is around 33% less extra damage (+20% down from +30%).

  2. Finally, ~40% less damage from its synergy with meteor slam. What most people don't know is that battle's upwards velocity was always less than its horizontal velocity. From my estimations, glorious battle used to travel ~8.3 blocks horizontally and ~6 blocks vertically. However, the current version can only travel ~5 blocks horizontally and ~3.5 blocks vertically. This means that the current version now does over 40% less damage from meteor slam!

In conclusion, I would love to see glorious battle's damage increased in exchange for less mobility and stacking removal. If nothing else, tweaking the upwards velocity to be the same as its horizontal velocity would be a welcome change.

Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

To add to the third point, it also means that if you're not looking straight up it's very likely that your movement will just barely not be enough to proc slam

Reckless Swing died for this skill btw

#

Reckless had its problems but man wtf is this Super Mario ass ability forcing me to boyoing on my enemies

#

may I present to you: A slightly low ceiling

#

synergized with meteor slam and rampage's weirdly low hitbox yes but not at all with warrior, it's a very difficult experience to enjoy because I picked warrior to beat enemies to death

#

if Meteor Slam became an active ability that dealt flat damage regardless of fly height, it would be able to stand alone as a skill without crutching on the use of Glorious Battle or movement items like Ire of the Gods to be usable

technically meteor slam does stand alone as a skill- the active ability gives jump boost

Glorious being an omnidirectional single target meteor slam with a janky passive ability that just serves itself as a weaker Guardian Challenge buff is not the best looking ability

if damage were flat active, the ceiling issue is gone immediately, and the lacking damage could be touched up through trial and testing

thats a really cool idea!
