with large armies, youre basically fighting as though theres a deerclops always next to you
and if you dont have the sanity to support the puppets they wont do as u say
if u run out of sanity while your shadows are fighting theyll stop moving entirely

and modded max can consume nightmare fuel to restore 10 sanity

it doesnt help that his duelists require dark swords to be crafted in the mod
sure, modded max is able to use his codex umbra as a shadow manipulator
but it does cost 100 sanity to make a dark sword (alongside its normal materials obviously)
u also need 25 sanity to make puppets in the first place
its just a lot of sanity management :D
also while his codex is an amazing weapon against shadow creatures, he doesnt gain sanity from killing them if he uses the codex
and the whole 75% damage makes fighting them with normal weapons as tedious as wendy but half as tanky

either way, he's rlly difficult to do a ruins rush in the mod with
so thats why i stick to boss killing instead :D
i should mention that the codex attack also drains sanity so u dont just not gain any sanity by killing shadows with it, u lose sanity
and u cant use the codex's attack if u dont have the sanity necessary for it

As for minecraft, it's a bit loose as far as progression goes tbh, the end as a whole is kinda optional

I dont quite mean tech mods by that to note (though many tech mods add machines, I consider technology to be more of a theme than the substance of a mod if that makes sense, and machines are the mechanic itself)

me collapsing after carrying the weight of being a fucking dumbass
so me and a friend started a new playthrough kinda recently
and yesterday we went to go fight fuel weaver after a lot of preparing
we got to the portal where you summon him
and realized that i forgot my nightmare amulet
so we rolled back a day and then went back to the portal
and he forgot the key to activate it
rolled back again and went to the portal, he forgot the fossil fragments and shadow atrium
rolled back again and finally started fighting the thing, aaaand i should have packed way more battle helmets because i went through all of them really fast

Then again I just don't really like DST's combat
Idk it always feels repetitive of "hit x amount of times then run"
And normally that wouldn't be the problem if it wasn't for the fact that's like DST's biggest focus

helps that wigfrid incentivizes facetanking part of the time
also a lot of the fight actually isn't directly hitting the boss
since he often spawns in hands you have to go insane to destroy otherwise he takes no damage
and he also often spawns little woven shadows that he can eat to regain 1,000 health

yeah trying to use webber's upside against fuelweaver is kind of a lost cause
although i guess there are a lot of dangling depths dwellers in the atrium
you could befriend them i suppose and get them all into the arena before you start the fight
you'd still have to break the little hands he spawns though, and probably also kill the woven shadows

The mainly problem with Webber's whole "We collect spiders" thing is that a lot of bosses have an anti spider/follower mechanic
Like queen bee, deerclops, and klaus all yell and it causes any followers focused on the boss to scramble
It's very annoying.

mainly cause the only follower i've ever had is abigail and she must be immune to that

first attempt i kept forgetting to use weather pains, second attempt i realized i needed more efficient sanity food than just cooked cactus flesh, third attempt i realized i needed an extra lazy explorer, fourth attempt i beat him
