Not playing Devil's Advocate, this doesn't guarantee the mod is made well, functions properly, doesn't foul up game files or force Steam Files Validation to repair it -- no reports yet AFAIK from poorly made mods running amok, but the 'safe to use' virus scan flag on Nexus is just that and should be taken along with other obvious flags: a mod with many downloads that wasn't merely uploaded yesterday and has no reports or unaddressed bug reports will probably work fine and not foul up anything

I wasn't here this afternoon to reply, but what you said here (at number 1) was my point entirely - I hadn't meant to throw fuel on a flame war. That it is a generalized statement to say it is safe to "get" mods from Nexus, etc. Further to the point, it is best that we all practice safe procedures such as backing up our computer files as needed in case the worse happens, or someone slips something in somehow which is not impossible at all. The truth is, NexusMods and mods they host for Ready or Not are as safe as we could hope for, and anything malicious or broken or problematic would be flagged and pulled pretty fast, but nothing is safe online and it's not being a conspiracy theorist to say so.

I put up a "mod" there, to promote my voice control profile for VoiceAttack.. technically not a mod, but you get the idea... they scanned it and it got a "safe to use" flag. I highly doubt it would have caught any poor/bad instructions in my inline VB.net functions - and that is my point. It was scanned for viruses... that doesn't mean my code could not do stupid things or have errors cuz I have to verify that stuff myself through months of development and testing

Well if the main purpose of the server remained to share information and guides along with tech support for creating mods that would be fine. They could just not include mod sharing on the server and instead rely on mods being released on Nexusmods or the Steam Workshop when that comes around
