So carcosa is the native home to the king in yellow in the i believe 1895 (dates may be off , this is from memory) play "the king in yellow" it was later adapted into the lore of the cthulhu mythos mainly created by H.P. Lovecraft and his pen pals which focuses on unspeakable cosmic horrors. The king in yellow was then used as inspiration for an unseen antagonist in true detective which makes sense thematically for this game but with all the weird drawings and images, im not sure which version they will take more inspiration from

Well with the render distance all the way up its always a full crosshair. So i think with it down it just fails to render the rest of the crosshair

Ideology seems to be quite close.
