If shitty cops were as dirty as the news and reddit say they are it'd be a lot easier to clean this profession up, thats the crux of the problem. Most of them never commit heinous enough acts to lose it all.

They just dont care. They contribute to departmental culture rot. No desire to fix problems, no desire to help, no pride in being a community pillar, no attention to the meager or the desolate.

But I work somewhere that ain't that way and in a community I enjoy so I guess im complaining about a nothing burger

Id wager that number is probably actually true, but assigning any value to it is malicious at worst and dubious at best. Most OIS' involve officers with many years on, and many officers with many years on are more likely to be on anti anxiety medications.

Saying "they were using psychotropics at the time" like its some sort of way of saying their judgment or decision making was impaired is flawed at every logical level given psychotropic medications are meant to clear judgment not cloud it.

i think the most enticing philosophical book i've read was "the self" by george herbert mead, but not because it outlines any sort of truths or universal facts. it talks about how social interaction is effectively a mix between a transaction and play. changed a lot of my approach with most situations when i realized everyone is playing a game with each other, whether they realize it or not
