depends on your preferance

there's short or long 5.56 options
short/intermediate length 300blk options
intermediate or long 7.62x51 options
and of course the recoil and power scale so bigger bullet more recoil but it takes less shots to kill and length effects how close you can get to a wall before you gun gets forced into high ready/unable to shoot

and there's also SMGs in 9mm/10mm/45/5.7/4.6
5.7 and 4.6 are more effective at penetrating armour then the other options but usually don't deal as much damage to unarmoured/limb shots as like 10mm/45 plus there's only 1 SMG choice each for 4.6 and 5.7 options

My personal recommendation to begin with is the LVAR. Good accuracy, decent damage, internally surpressed, small, good fire rate and good ammo. I used it for a long time and still use it now and then.

Other one I really like is the GA51 which is chambered in 7.62mm and is still fairly small, good if you have hit shots well cos of high damage but really bad recoil so I'd just suggest keeping it on semi auto.

Personal favourite is the Mk.V but that's just because it's chambered in .50 AE, I also do love having the big iron on my hip tbf so revolver.

The M1911 and the other variant of M1911 is also good, that's a nice reliable one.

I'll be honest I've never taken a JHP magazine I mostly just use AP rounds, work if they're wearing plates and works if they aren't.

it's the only rifle caliber that struggles to break through l3 armour

They fire bullets, the bullets work, good enough. Don't go around telling people they have to take these ones because they're the only good ones. Just take whatever one you want to take and let others do the same.

I guess I won't have to be waiting long until I see a dead cop because the l3 armour suspect tanked 12 rounds of 9mm or a 1911s entire magazine (or even more on hard or any maps with increased health pools or l4 armour)

Why are you being such a prick about this? Just let people take the weapons they want to, just cos they have a L3 plate on their chest doesn't mean they have it on their face. Funnily enough always shooting at where the enemies are the most armoured is not very effective.

Only times I actively aim for the plate is when I don't want to kill them, typically a 7.62 to the chest if they're in a plate won't kill them but can stagger them enough they'll comply.

Although it is annoying when I don't want to kill them and fail to realise they are not wearing a plate...

also 5.7 isn't actually really "high power" it's just a smaller diameter (.224) Spitzer point rather then being a big 45 round nose and this is better at penetrating armour
