I think what most people are upset about is the wattered down shock value. Sure, the lore is intact but the situations you see arent as shocking. It sucks seeing a minor convulse from OD'ing (hopefully, as long as youre a reasonable person with sympathy), its absolutely heartbreaking. but from what I understood playing the game, that was a lot of the point. To shock players, show them how horrifying the world is in the darkest corners of humanity, it being your responsibility to bring order to the chaos. The implications are still there, it just isnt hitting you as hard with the censorship, if that makes sense. Maybe not, and it could be my personal opinion, I just think that others feel the same way i do

We had the content because it was shocking, using hyperbole to push the point home instead of writing and enviromental design. Now we have an amazing writing team and a incredible level design team, they will take the weight off the overt horror and load it back into the subtle horror.

On the note of lacking comprehension you don't seem to understand that censorship is present all over the world, again quoting games that people often talk about. RDR 2 is censored in regions where you aren't able to gamble, consume alcohol as a player, or dismember dead bodies.

Many games are censored once you look into it, you just don't think about it if you're in a region that never had to deal with it.

Really nothing the devs changed changes the core fundamentals of the game, but the little details are important to a lot of people as well. Of course its hard to find a balance to achieve the goals of the devs and keep the PC players happy with what they first experienced before things changed, but the reviews on steam are still an undeniable proof that maybe some focus has to be shifted somewhere

We’re on different platforms, but we’re ultimately on one single build… maintaining a separate build of a game is a lot harder than it looks, and you would work your ass off in order to gather a team and such to maintain that edition

Overall, any chances console versions might get additional features like Pro things, additional settings for controller like full remapping (in pretty good state I would say, but still, full remapping is kinda now) or it's likely to stay like it is now and all priority goes into new content with bug fixes as usual, until something major like next generation?
