Game has been advertised as a morbid and gritty game since the 2017 reveal trailers. These changes water down the overall experience, there's far less shock value to seeing the kid overdosing in Meth House now that she's just sleeping
The big issue is, if they censored parts of the game now, what about future content? What makes people so sure they won't censor that? atleast internally

The added clothing could maybe be a bit dirtier etc, and the now sleeping child looks a bit out of place with how peacefull it is compared to the surroundings.

Taking pieces of environmental story telling and censoring them takes emotional impact away. Through being visually shown that theres a little girl convulsing and contorting actively suffering/dying hits a lot harder vs an unconscious/sleeping child. Shock value overdone is cheap and lazy but careful placement really does make all the difference. Im sure there were players that were apathetic but from a teen to a father or a police officer imagining stumbling upon that in reality or officers who actually saw an overdosing child and had to successfully or unsuccessfully save them. That detail can impact them very differently and stick with them for a lot longer. I am a grown ass man but my heart sank a little when i watched her while others pressed F to report it and moved on. This is as much about censorship as it is about taking impactful moments enhancing and adding to the tones and expectations set. its different to see it happen than it is to hear it happen

But that's the problem. We all know that as a business they are going to want to make money. They had already pandered to a very niche market and were rewarded for it. Now the market that allowed for them to get this far is being scorned in the pursuit of them making even more money and pandering to a wider and more general(sanitized) market. And knowing how that has lead other game series down similar paths before does not inspire confidence in this company any more.

I higly recommend you work on a optional offical downloadable content dlc specifically to revert the removal of content for pc players so its trustworthy source and its evident at least one side of the market doesnt have to deal with downgrade for more players yes callout maybe inconsistent on versions but left 4 dead community modded their games to hell and back and still can comunicate with eachother. An AO rating is something that would essentially kill your game if you’re trying to get it on consoles… major storefront are not gonna sell your physically and since Sony and Microsoft, don’t allow AO games on their platforms then you are cooked
