The only reason this game is dead is because of how bad the 1.0 launch was, had it not been a buggy mess, left in so many issues from Adam, interduced a whole slew of new issues including brand new preformance issues.
If 1.0 was an early access release and we got to try it out for 6 months, RoN could be releasing now on ue5 in an amazing state.

I am interested in how this plays out, porting something like this from ue 4 to ue5 is not easy and will lead to a ton of issues. Especially since it was an external party that did the porting.

Is deprecated code gonna be removed or was that ported across. Are we gonna see a slew of ue5 exclusive bugs. How is that gonna impact performance. This game is already poorly optimised as it is, ue5 has the potential to make issues a lot worse over the long run

I genuinely don’t see a reason for the move besides the buzz words. It’s not like optimising a game is hard on ue4, ue5 might just allow to more easily sweep it under the rug

The drones and power cutting were actually addressed in some of the AMAs a year ago, the discretion that a player has to have and the school map are both in there though.
As for the future of the game, it will move forward with more features and dimensions to the game but the form they will take is something that we really can't talk about that yet

There's probably so many moving pieces at VOID Interactive that they simply can't announce anything with a reasonable amount of certainty, as it will probably change, evolve and/or get outright cancelled further down the road. That's why they always announce stuff at the last minute. Late announcements are preferable to deadline changes and public cancellations.
Seems to me like VOIDs biggest issue is somewhere in upper management or workflow organization.
It's all so familiar to someone who ever worked on any collaborative project.
