VC ambushes weren't that common and whenever they happened, they'd usually just shoot at the americans for a couple minutes and pull away (because they knew that if they stay any longer they're gonna get smashed to smithereens with all the firepower the americans started to call in the second they got ambushed)

Well more things happening = more performance tanking, so the easiest step is making less features in the game (less scripts executing = more frames lel). Also limiting things that happen every frame like Update methods, and using more Event based methods that are called on a specific action (this still involves checking for things during frames afaik, but will be a much smaller performance tank). Other stuff includes however they deal with rendering, like anti-aliasing, shadows, reflections, etc.

Not really, unlike GMOD it doesn't have it's own structure on half life 2 or something like that, it's a lot more like roblox since once you boot it up you just get a selection of games that can play severely different from one another, the only thing holding them together being your custom avatar

Well for all intents and purposes, that's essentially what Garry's Mod was. Just a bunch of different game types under one belt. Built on Source Engine using half life 2 assets. Now they're just taking away the half life assets but using the new and improved Source 2. It's essentially trying to be what Garry's Mod was, but better and more moddable/customizable. I get where you're coming from with Roblox comparison, as they're all just the same. A framework that curious people can use to build something

It uses something called GDScript which is kind of like python(?)

Sadly it doesn't make games for you kind of like UE does, you need to have deeper knowledge to use godot and its placeholder assets aren't that expansive
