That’s an inconvenience at best but it’s still a thing and from what I can see on internet it has been for a while
It's simply means some of you have a mod, reinstalling the game doesn't remove them.

Are we ever getting swat ai that actually works
I do the separate go commands they don’t listen. They shoot the hostage when there’s a hostage taker. They throw flashes or stings or gas either too shallow or at the door frame
Does it also say "Cannot reach host server" or something like that?

Active Shooter type of missions are just annoying in general, though I'd consider Mirage At Sea THE Active Shooter mission done right.. at least on Standard diff. I am not too sure about Hard as I've yet to play it on that.
Honestly the existence of Elephant on Hard diff and Hunger Strike even on Standard already sent Greased Palms below #1 worst mission on both diffs for me.
They only ever do that in Standard difficulty onwards, right? I never seen them doing it in Casual diff.
NGL I would rather bear with superhuman capabilities (Hard Greased Palms) during S Rank rather than a quick auto fail Objective.

To put it into reality, the fastest human muscle reaction is 100 milliseconds and that’s for your eye muscles

Having a hard time in Neon club, even in Casual, the layout is hard to cover, especially at the end of the lower level where you got a long hallway/path with multiple interconnected areas.
You just gotta learn a route that works for you and stick to it

We also know that in a briefing of a mission (I think it's the hospital) there's 2 entry team
Been testing out the gas grenandes and I’ve found they cause the enemy AI to act strangely.
Even when not exposed to the gas grenades effects, it seems to slow down enemy reaction time as though they’re having trouble seeing through the gas.
It does however seem to make them eager to execute any hostages they have.

Gas might be worth it for the sightline blocks over flashes.
Anything that can slow down the enemy reaction time is very welcome.

the mirror gun is so overpowered that I have heard people advocate not using it
since it would not make your learn cqb fundamentals properly
I mean it’s a tool, only as good as the operator. But mirror shut doors and mirror securing and all the bugs in ana, that you can exploit, not to mention its actual intended use makes the mirror gun in my opinion, the best tool for programmed psychosis

And yk maybe people wouldn’t exploit the mirror gun if the ai on ana on hard were even slightly realistic but when void codes them to have a 50 millisecond reaction time, which is 1/2 the time it takes any human to blink let alone react and engage, it’s not very realistic, especially since those ai w 50 millisecond reaction times, also have 7.62 ap one tap wall beams
well yeah, it just depends on how one wants to play. I use mirror gun a lot myself and it's definitely harder to play without it. But I can see why people would say it's cheating a bit.

Also another thing abt ana, the ai can shoot backwards. My friend and I were doing our s run and he had him up against the wall, facing the wall, pinned w a shield and all of a sudden my shield guy dropped and he clipped it and replayed it he literally shot backwards behind him while pinned w a shield

Felt this. Was holding a doorway, I see the suspects rifle peeking through the door, and before I even get a sightline on his body, his rifle had fired and the bullet had curved 180 degrees to dome me.

It’s why they can shoot behind them. Since the game isn’t actually checking to make sure the rifle is pointed in a direction that makes sense, only if a line can be drawn between you and the AI.
And void couldn’t make realistic ai so they just cranked their stats to inhuman stats just to make it “hard”

But RON uses a weird ass pseudo-hive mind system with a primary program informing AI behavior.
We need the ai from cod spec ops back in the day lol

RON basically just uses modified default unreal engine AI.
Fortunately game acknowledged that and then tp them to their room and auto arrest them

If you throw flashes inside and not seen, he will not care
The suspects receive signals that the primary program receives, the primary program then tells the suspects what they know and what they’re capable of in that scenario.
In most AI systems, such decisions are made independently by a bunch of smaller programs.
He literally triggered the bomb bc gas went through the floor and triggered flower man, we were on third floor we weren’t even on the same floor as trigger man

I can see the use of a centralized AI for "game master" purposes, making sure that the AI prioritize interesting decisions and moments. But for them to not actually like independently act at all is kinda cringe

The SWAT AI is about as smart mechanically as SWAT 4 AI which is alright. The issue is that they’ve had their reaction, response, and accuracy gimped.
They’ll just stand in one spot and get mag dumped while yelling “PUT THE GUN DOWN”

They can't turn very well. The MLO cqb enemies are much better at facing and prioritizing threat areas because they are fast as fuck

Realistically they should have both. Just saying that a game made over a decade ago could manage this.
They do have a degree of independent AI. The "primary program" just serves as a sorta brain for their physical capabilities.
Basically, every AI on the level is all speaking to the same program to decide "oh, I can see that guy."
Which causes lag on the program which is what causes the wall banging.
Whereas what real people would do is each process limited and fallible information and decide what to do with it

No, I just used to mod SWAT 4 a lot and I’ve looked into the RON code.
So I’m rather familiar with these systems.
It’s “Simulator”
SWAT 4 suspects use individual evaluations of situations.
Each suspect is assigned a "skill level" and "type" which changes how they individually react to situations.
A suspect with a high skill level and a military background is likely to be more brave and aggressive in pushing.
I have a BS in computer science but I don't feel that I got a very deep understanding of how to build or improve systems like this. It was all very... Shallow and wide knowledge, feels like
Meanwhile a suspect assigned a low skill level and a fearful type personality will hunker down and flee from swat when possible.

I think it makes them "know where you are", same as tripping a laser. I've tried pulling a fire alarm and running away and the enemies all seemed to either swarm or aim at the point where the fire alarm is pulled. Which is ofc not how fire alarms work
Best way to put it is the RON AI is based upon a framework better suited for things like COD.
The default framework they are working with is not suitable for a tactical shooter.

Changing the framework? Probably not. If they really wanna fix this using the tools they have at this point. They need to tone down the reaction/response time, add in a calculation to take care of distance and obstruction via a swap to a cone based vision model, tone down accuracy, especially while moving, alter the bullet trajectory models to respect rifle position, and add in suspect archetypes.
All of these could be added to the existing AI framework, it would just take some effort.
How do you know this? Do you have to decompile SWAT 4 to get into modding or is there source code or an API or something?
A lot of the code is in plain text in the files.
This was already a problem on Hard Greased Palms and some other maps
Some of it you have to decompile though.
Example. In SWAT4.ini.
You can find the plaintext settings for all the AI and their archetypes.

All the little details that affect basic actions and behavior.

I used to modify the SWAT 4 files to make my ideal experience. Toned up damage, toned up the degree in which suspects take hostages and barricade, made the AI more responsive, and toned up certain suspect archetypes to be more aggressive/erractic. Meanwhile I made the friendly AI less useless by altering the angle in which they chuck flashbangs and respond to threats to make them more equivalent to a real player.
And that was all doable in plaintext

It’s as simple as changing some values.
I just altered the angle in which the friendly threw grenades to be a bit higher.
So they would chuck things deeper into rooms.

There are still things SWAT 4 did better. They would wait for CS Gas to billow before clearing a room. If you queued a c2 breach, they would plant the c2 and wait for your go to blow it instead of waiting for your go to plant and blow it all at once.
They could mirror corners, not just under doors

Best I can do is giving them all shields. I can then hide behind them and immediately kill any emerging threats. If they start to go too far from where I would like, I will ask them to fall in.
it's like herding cats. There is some RNG involved. I have started using a shield myself to quickly check dead angles for threats.
using a shield means giving up the mirror gun, but it has allowed me to switch to a more active play style where I can quickly clear dead angles
the shield has also come in clutch in those stair areas where I would otherwise be very exposed. overall I quite like it

You can test recoil by magdumping in shooting range. Attachments can shorten the recoil quite substantially
The vertical grip might help with some recoil but unless you're on hard it's gonna one tap most people to the body

I have personally switched from the 7.62 one tap wonders to using 5.56 guns with low recoil like g36c on full auto.
The reason is the bastards who decide to run across the room while spraying on my team all of a sudden. Shooting auto with recoil control and spraying horizontally is how I catch them

some people think barrel length matters because of velocity and ballistic performance and what not. Rest assure, RoN doesn't have any of that and is quite basic on how bullets performs.
I reckon VOID is already working on PvP. Judging by the folders, there might be two more DLCs on the way.
suppressor don't affects the bullets in any way shape or form, it merely reduces stress gain by half and increase the total length of the gun.

I personally don't recommend the Mk V unless you just want a handcannon for fun, you should use the Five Seven or s2011 with AP ammo, not JHP. Also, for rifles I recommend either the g36c, mk18, or the Mk1 if you have the supporter edition

If you mean the vest you choose in the apperence section then yeah the appearance of the vest changes sometimes when you're switching between different team members in the loadout selection. Easy fix is just switch to the Apperence tab again for that member and it'll auto load back in what you selected for cosmetics.
i finished RON on standard difficulty without any officer dying and i got the hermit archievement or whatever its called but i still cant access the ruined dev watch, anyone know why? can i fix it somehow?

Negotiator’s are perfect for S runs. Somebody told me this here like a week ago and it’s been workin flawless since - 2 Negotiators & 2 Pacifiers.
Veteran’s are great for lethal runs, I think.
I would suggest:
2 negotiators and 2 pacifiers for S runs
1 armorer, 1 nutritionist, 2 veterans for lethal runs
2 negotiators, 1 armorer, 1 nutritionist also good as a hybrid mix

Yeah, a long time ago when LSS released I got a tip to use only 1 ammo for all SWAT AI with the M32A1s
And that works, but 0 extra ammo working too is great
Rmr for pistols, sro for shotguns and some smgs, 510c or exps3 for rifles and some smgs
And the fact my Swat AI has a better vision than i do when it comes to long range shooting

Interestingly enough, LAPD has used the 416 for many years, but has swapped to a new rifle. The ARWC seems to match this new rifle very closely
Also, in the early 2000s, the LAPD SWAT adopted the Kimber Custom II 1911
But in more recent times, they've swapped to the FN 509 MRD-LE, which also just so happens to be in the game

All I really did was changing from Mirror Gun to Shield and equipping all my AI team with shields. Gave up the wallhacking but can respond to any active threats.

Yeah i guess that makes sense. Though as a programmer myself i dont think projectiles cost that much performance if coded properly.

I can say it used to run way worse back in the day, when they were giga pumping graphics during the NDA days to the point where it was genuinely unplayable
the original UE5 switch was pretty rough
yeah there seemed to be a lot of hardware and frame gen issues

(That hair texture thing you mentioned is a very common problem in UE5 games, like E33 and Chained Together)
The game runs amazingly for me. I have a 4050 with 6 GB VRAM. I have Post Processing, anti-aliasing, vfx quality, and ambient occlusion on medium because I don't see enough of a difference on high to run it. With DLSS frame gen and on quality im hitting 100+ fps
Everything else is on high. I even have bounce lighting and pos on
