You can try to switch the type of attachment on your gun and the default key for turning on/off accessories is "O"

why would shooting a suspect with a hostage with a beanbag shotgun kill the hostage

for a game that desperately wants you to use nonlethal all the time it sure makes less lethal unappealing

also i hate this new slow motion animation of suspects bending over and placing a gun on the floor

It would be nice if they sped up the animation depending on morale loss, like getting closer and pointing at their chest/head, or while they are in that animation half way through you can arrest them from the front in some way that 'turns them around' facing away from you.

That and if they hesitate and pointing the barrel at you ROE to shoot should be more lenient, I doubt a real swat would sit patiently waiting for a suspect to put a gun down for 1 minute.

If the suspect had a gun or knife to the hostage, they will either shoot them or slit their throat if you shoot and miss or get too close, beanbag or not

Happens to SWAT and cops all the time, tons of bodycam footage of people putting weapons down slowly and then faking and shooting the officer, it is a SWAT realism game

SWAT IRL are patient, but precise, methodical, and efficient. Their goal is to make sure everyone gets out alive or arrested, and using their weapon as of lethal means is a LAST Resort

Its kinda low priority, SWAT know that theyre putting their lives on the line in high risk situations. They prioritize the civilians first then the suspects, in a lot of departments priority of the officer is near the low area

For example, I run pretty fst on the beach home because its just some stupid teenagers building gun parts with hired gunmen, but I run slow, fast, and methodical on Hotel, or even the Yacht in the dark waters dlc because theyll start shooting if youre not quick but too fast

I usually get suspects that just stay still

I get the occasional one being sus about dropping his weapon or hostage situation

But sometimes I think it would be cool if the suspects dynamically coordinated to get your team too

the oil rig is tough to clear in one go because it's impossible to stop suspects from wandering around outside and taking the stairs to different levels. if the heli isn't spotting them they're either down on the lowest level or interior.

keep wandering around and shouting and hope that they shout back at you

Forgive me if I'm wrong but from what I understand it has to do with intimidation, IN MY EXPERIENCE if you rush in with your whole squad they'll execute the hostage, if you peek into the room they'll fire at YOU instead, best thing to do is to take room entry slow and use flashbangs/gas if there's a hostage taken in the room, motive also matters cus if it's a mass shooting level they'll most likely kill hostages on sight

They'll start to take hostages whenever you make yourself known by firing a weapon or screaming at someone, but usually won't execute them until they have to
