The original pre-1.0 version had the ability to pick different modes. Raid was literally like next to no hostages and all suspects. Bomb threat is in the name, it's like doing hospital on diff maps

Raid: No RoE, less civilians, lots of suspects, go nuts
Hostage: like elephant but without the bombs, also any noise of any kind got the hostages killed
Bomb Threat: Elephant without the hostage situation. Just you, two bombs, and a lot of suspects
Active Shooter: less suspects (1+), going around and shooting civilians. Get in, subdue them, save the civvies, get out.
You're forgetting the part of active shooter where they would take 5 seconds to start blasting and in hostage you couldn't make a peep before they started killing

Can we please talk about how the swat AI clears rooms with suspects in them?
When they notice a suspect, they don't stop and deal with the situation, they keep moving and keep clearing, leaving behind the suspect even if they have not surrendered yet. In this case, they need to either neutralize the threat, or stop and face them down, NOT KEEP GOING. Some kind of way to customize their RoE (either stop moving when you spot a suspect or keep clearing and neutralize them if they don't comply) would be really helpful, not this weird bullshit where they keep going and pretend like the noncompliant individual doesn't exist anymore. The Swat AI's lack of object permanence is INFURIATING.
They need to understand that they need to either stop moving and keep trying to gain compliance, or keep moving and neutralize the threat
How big is the room?
I'd like it if was one team/officer standing back to secure and the rest secure the room, it makes no sense for all of them to stop and secure if the room isn't secure

I'm talking about the situation where they're clearing a room, a dude isn't complying but not threatening, and they just keep clearing past him and lose sight of him

The latter. Front should be covered and rearguard dealing with suspects. Unless pointman has taken a suspect and then rotating roles, secondman automatically becomes new point and one of the rear roles might fill in as coverman? A bit complex to code.
It's not about being perfect. The whole point of playing these special tactics games is having intelligent AI to work with and seeing how they work out the issues that the game presents to you
I don't imagine it being that difficult to develop a way for the AI to understand if it should stop and face someone down, keep moving and leave him for the next guy, or just take him out and THEN keep going
What I noticed is I died during quickplay and the AI continued to do the mission. And they actually work so much more efficient without you there lol
The game is coded to slow them down and wait for your command, so I think it hiccups a lot because of that
Their AI should be at that level all the time. The point of the game is that we get to command an intelligent team of AI. It sucks that they only unleash their full potential when you're not actually able to fucking play with them

Their AI's full capacity should be available when you're alive, they just shouldn't be soloing the map

The way they deal with clearing large rooms works if you are always the last guy out
Because if you're always the last guy into the room, then you deal with whoever they left behind
But you don't ALWAYS want to be the last one in
My biggest issue with the AI, is that if you ask them to fall in ,they don't value their own lives all the time. Multiple times they almost die because since the command was to fall in, they stood in the middle of gunfire and didnt move
If they had to wait for commands, it'd turn into a stop-start simulator. Might as well turn it into DK2 and preplan movements.

They secured hostages/suspects, picked up evidence etc on their own just fine
I didnt even do that, it was all them and I joined red squad for other rooms
And they played it just fine, they were alive and the room was cleaned. I just wonder if queueing commands will work to get them to come back to me once they're done?

It makes no sense we cant force ppl to the ground, no cop is gonna wait 10-15 seconds for a hostage to comply
The MAM mod allows you to knock people down with melee attacks. From a technical standpoint it actually just briefly forces "feign death" but in terms of flavor it's like you're punching them down. This allows you to restrain them without going through the bullshit.
As a bonus, this mod also helps with the bomb vested civilians having infinite morale bug. You just knock them down, but you get hit with an unauthorized force penalty.
Sounds waaaay better than the muzzle strike. š¤£

It's still a muzzle strike, it just works as a bandaid fix for the infinite morale bombvest civilian bug + it allows you to break open doors when your legs are wounded. And it allows you to skip the whole animation of a suspect slowly dropping their weapon by just knocking them down immediately.
ppl gave me a 20 min argument when I said that the suspect that pulls a camera out of their pocket is annoying and we should be able to butt them with our gun with no point loss

This is another problem. I really wish the Swat AI had voice lines for "Bro isn't complying" like they had in Swat 4 instead of infinitely yelling for compliance. In Swat 4, when a civilian or suspect was completely noncompliant, they would shout 3-4 times before just stating "suspect/civilian is not complying!" and hold position

Our guys are supposed to be the most elite and most powerful units in the currently played level. The fact that their AI does not include any cover-taking behavior whereas the elite enemies do, is just awful

at most you would get something like 'Right!' If thats where the suspect was last scene if the shooting was stop, short and brief to keep unit cohesion
and if there is officers arriving at scene they'd get informed via radio
Because every gunfight in Call of Duty is scripted to happen the same, the enemies are all in the same locations. This game has completely unique enemy layouts every time you play a map which means the officers movements also arent scripted

Recoil has nothing with it being bullpup or not. If anything felt recoil of a bullpup can be heavier as the action impacts much more closely to the shoulder and muzzle rise is higher as the action is located nearer to the rear, shifting the balance of the weapon
The enemies are predetermined to be in the same spot. They can change as the map goes on but they all start in a predetermined location which makes it easier for developers to predict and determine where the AI should take cover, btw they're also unkillable so how do u even know they're doing a good jbo

Ready or Not is based on real themes/events exaggerated for fun, I don't think people really realize how boring really realistic maps would be. There's a reason why people thought streamer would be a "tutorial" if it was as "grounded" as it appeared to be.

Fairfax is an example of (MOSTLY) normal home, 2 minute clear, quick replayable map on SWAT 4
I don't find it replayable or really fun, interesting the first try? Sure. But it's a tiny map that really doesn't play out that differently.

Considering the smaller, less chaotic maps take significantly less time to create, I don't see how it can be an issue to toss a house together with 2 suspects and a hostage

They put a lot of effort into Dorms, I can't imagine being the art team designing some of that methhead graffiti
It's probably an outdated quote, but they said in the past smaller maps are more intensive on the team, because they have to put a lot more detail into them to make them more fun/interesting.

The complaints of no realistic maps will always be here, I've heard plenty of people talk about how we're a SWAT team going onto a freaking oil rig lol, but it is what it is. It is a fun map so I don't complain and just throw on military attire
I can tell that, itās not unfun per se, just convoluted and the achievement really sucks to get solo and is so RNG-based

I just dunno, this is my personal preference at the end of the day. I found yacht the perfect size, and I just do not like any of the smaller maps in-game, especially Ends.
Yacht is good as the verticality makes up for the smaller size
I think the smaller less challenging maps are good for 'warm ups' to shake the rust off.
That's how I look at smaller maps, nothing like not playing for a month and coming back for 3 letter triad

I mean the oil rig map is the best one yet for me, map that wouldnt even make sense for SWAT, yet it still is the most fun right now and really well made.
My favorite map so far is probably voll health house because no1 gets mad at me for mag dumping a certain suspect
The problem with new maps = external security, old maps = same, no cordon security.
I think they do a good job twisting reality, it is a partnership with the COAST Guard, it makes sense from a law enforcement perspective since the coast guard does conduct law enforcement operations

You manually tell the red team to breach that door in particular, then tell the blue team to handle the other door that they stacked on.

Cuff a Suspect, shoot them in the leg, place them infront of the door with the C2 Charge, and then blast off.

AI officer walked in front of my fucking fully automatic machine gun fire, died, then my other teammates fucking executed me. Awesome!

Unfortunately it didn't work, i set it up and blew the c2. It incapacitated him but then my ai teammates were sent to execute me

If the mod only replaces a certain piece of equipment like clothing, then it is client sided.
However, some mods are server sided. Such as additional guns, additional clothing, Armor, etc.

There should be a button called show game files.
There should be four visible folders, click on the second folder, then click on PAKS.
The paks folder is where you drop the mod files in. But be sure that the mods were uploaded/updated on December 10, 2024 and forward.

Am I the only one taking issue with how I get a "Unauithorized use of force" after shooting a guy who refuses to drop a gun and then makes a jerky draw movement towards me? It's happened several times now and almost no dept would find that unjustified. It's a bit crazy
But it sucks to not have it free like the default gas mask looks ass and the other 2 do look awesome. But avon was the best and could have replaced the carbon gas mask.
Second complaint, almost every single civilian is standoffish. It's extremely annoying to sit there and have a debate with every one of them
you need a mod
- make frequent use of stack up and cover to get the AI to hold positions or angles
- note that individual officers can be ordered around by looking at them with the menu open
- play the training level if you haven't already
- configure your quick command button to something easy and intuitive for you (I use spacebar)
- it's ok to split up the teams, or even to use one team for defending and one for attacking/following, but try not to get them too separated in case you need the whole team.
- Play around with how the different long-tacticals are used by the AI. ex. shield guy will always take point when room clearing, battering ram guy will switch positions after breaching but shotgun guy won't, the difference in effect between throwing vs launching grenades, etc
- take note of the hold/resume command. It can be used anytime during room clearing to prevent the AI from overextending themselves.

sleeper is my worst enemy
it was pretty hard but I eventually got it. I put red team in a room upstairs and blue team in a room downstairs, had them both cover, and then LTL'd most of the map without performing any arrests and ordering every suspect into the same room, then arresting them all at once
it sucks because the pathfinding is buggy and you have to get them to draw their second guns to fully disarm them without arresting them

I tend to because I like red team more and like going into rooms with them so I make blue team cover the entrance

my next run will be 2 flashbangs per map and no optiwand

That's how I run it ingame too, I let blue team do their own thing and I run with red team, that way we avoid that exact issue
