I did my Ironman runs with all of this:
High Caliber Weaponry, like the OSW or high capacity weapons, like the P90. Although the efficiency of those weapons in ammo use and terminating threats varies between maps and armor on suspects
Ballistic shields for my ai buddies and a mirrorgun for myself, if needed. Like on Brisa Cove.
Gasmask and gas grenades. Also depending on the map, you might want to take a flash or taser. Neon Tomb would be such a map, some of the dudes dont surrender to gas.
DOOR WEDGES. These things saved my ass in my last 2 runs, especially on before hotfix broken AI Brisa Cove. Blocking off every possible ambush angle and clearing room by room without needing to check your six every 10 nanoseconds made it actually doable.
For a Secondary, I recommend the FiveSeven. High Ammo cap and good armor pen.

Between the suspects going suicidal and wanting to die by cop and my officers pissing themselves over killing a crackhead I dont know who approved this system
But I didnt kill anyone (atleast tried to). I wanted to do the S tier achievement, complete all Ironman mode levels and the "Complete Ironman mode without loosing a single officer"

The important thing is: The beanbag is less lethal. It will kill if you shoot the head or mutliple times. Gas Launcher in any shape is non lethal. But if a dude surrendered already and you magdump his respiratory system after he put his hands up, that´s unauthorized use of force. And sometimes it´s just random lmao

Tips to not die on an S rank?
do what you normally do, but secure all suspects, soft objectives and evidence. for not dying in general, go in last and let the AI or other players take the shots first, they are considerably faster than you
S rank is easier with a communicating team, too, so if you're in multiplayer, get a team of good people

Once you unlock armorer and take full coverage ceramic you will struggle to die at all. Suspects with weapons on 5.56, 7.62 and .300 will kill you only in 15+ hits

hits to arms/legs from bots is only 21 (same if get hit in the steel plate), since they all use ap round, and it's good when they hit you in the limbs, because if you get bleed and stop it, it's will heal you back to 50%
Launch an impact flash grenade directily into their chest cavity and they will surrender. Atleast they did when I did my S run on Neon

There is a bleedout chance based on ammo type, plus hit location no matter where you shoot them. But the listed locations are more likely.

They can hold their own unless you give them the worst loadouts you can think of

i think that steel needs a buffer of health
steel is coated with rubber to capture spall so it would take a couple shots before you actually start getting grenades exploding up your chin and into your arms
you don't take damage from spall by your own steel plate anyway
steel already dont randomly one shot you due to fragments get sent into you skull is a big plus, would prefer steel plates have lesser movement penalty
a single plate of steel is way heavier than 4 plates ceramic smh

(3) Breach (6) With leader (4) CS Gas --- Do the C2s yourself, equipped item will switch back after detonation to primary, scan the room, let your guys throw the grenade in and take care of business themselves
Also just kill the shit out of the enemies forget that apprehend the subject nonsense when the risk of enemies not responding to being hit with flashbang, stingers and even CS gas is a possibility

Funny thing is that all assault rifles in the game have no horizontal recoil at all, so they don't benefit from combat grip, same thing for accuracy stat on this grip, in reality it's affect only buckshot spread.
On rifles you want either vertical for -10% recoil or angled for 35% ads speed, combat grip is only 10% ads speed for them

Arm injury debuff increases weapon shake at the sight and from the hip, not vertical/horizontal recoil
tested with attachments that reduce vertical to 0 and increases horizontal by 1000%, no difference on rifles

the guys in my squad got to Crisis after Twisted Nerve
3 fucking missions and they want to quit
that why you need negotiators, so you can make suspects complie and arrest some of them to heal the stress or just play first mission fully non lethal
Yeah you only need about a quarter to a third of the suspects alive to maintain mental status (not factoring in SBAGS). It's not that many you need to get.
your squadmates also gain more stress if they killing suspects instead of you
stress for 1 killed suspect <= stress for 1 surrendered if you kill suspects
arrested civilians also heal stress, but less compare to suspects (0.03 stress heal vs 0.08)

it was good enough that i never complained about cheaty Ai
and i had less issues in S4 than RoN
It's night and day, they were small maps with really simple AI. I think most of em are smaller than Brixley.
RoN takes up a step with bigger map designs which is the cause for the huge flaw
RoN portrays more environments and scenarios, I'm sorry, SWAT 4 is really boring and has plenty of issues. Especially with the AI doin the 180 makarov twist
S4 had only a select few larger maps, but even then there were very few open areas, most of the larger maps tended to be just a lot of smaller areas
I stopped playing Swat 4 currently because their S rank system is really, really painful vanilla wise.
That does make sense, because usually when I think of AI and map design I remember F.E.A.R. Which of course had its fair share of smoke and mirrors for the time but it was really nice.
VOID had many opportunities to expand way more on S4 and it did
but it left so much to be desired with todays state..
I wish there was the same level of depth and resources available for how A.I. were created for RoN like there was for F.E.A.R.

I reread the PDF one of the devs put out for how the AI was done, it’s nice to put it next to the game and understand it on a deeper level.
It does make me want to understand how RoN AI makes its own individual decisions, more then the stress system I have heard of.
yeah the AI is god damn weird, even after "updates" im surprised it isnt fleshed out by now
I’m not going to act like I know how coding AI works either, but the RoN AI is a bit of an enigma at times.
From my understanding there's a global and individual level systems. Stuff like throwing flashbangs raises global stress, but it of course impacts the AI in the room more. Gunshots I think as well.
Stress and morale basically decide if the AI is gonna be jumpy and shoot, or if they're going to hesitate, or try to hide, etc. In general you want to take them by surprise, loud stuff makes that hard.
the AI is absolutely asinine, the concepts are nice and i believe if they put their muscle into reworking and enhancing the systems
then the enigma factor will just be reduced by alot
even the stuff you describe and the intended functions are really awesome
However, most players go in gun heavy, which is fun (and I'm guilty of.) It's only natural that you go in as a kill squad, you get treated as one.
In my swat 4 experience killing one would cause a lot of others to surrender, which was not just boring, but it was at times just really ridiculous.
I've had 3 guys surrender in one room, one guy in my blindspot, and another guy behind a shelf I couldn't see them in.
Though with some of the stuff people post, I do wish that RoN hand held you like SWAT 4 did and didn't let you execute people.
Which you could on one hand argue makes sense for a person to do in that situation, but it does trivialize the game I realize.
That's always been RoNs issue. Shooting is fun, RoN is an FPS at it's core. Maps like Data Center tried to rationalize it story wise, but if RoN was a 100% realistic game, then you'd rarely shoot in the entire game.
Maybe just on Gerards map, and the terrorists of course.

So you can easily reset if something goes wrong
The extra bonuses the officers in commander can offer are outweighed by things going wrong so often in s runs
Also so you can give your bots all VKS' and have some people watching your back with non-lethal

S runs better to do in commander mode, it's much harder on practice in general
Beanbag with bots can sometimes headshot and kill, so no beanbag, Pepperball SMG is just objectively worse than VKS.

I run Beanbag and bots with VKS, I can take care of Gas Masks
none of them are immune to pepperballs, only one suspect on lethal obsession immune to gas/pepper smoke
Also, I don't think any suspects on VotD have gas masks or are immune

I would say you could do a light system, like if you shine the flashlight at a guy in broad daylight that’s not going to confuse him. But if you’re in a dark area the suspect won’t be able to see a thing. But that’s a bit much I realize.
Well yes, but I find both the Stinger and the Flashbang to be kinda useless in my playstyle. That's just me, but I still think it defeats the purpose. Especially because Flashbang and Stinger are kinda buggy for me and only work about 7/10 times.

Hey I was thinking, it would be very interesting to have scenarios that allow rappel raids.
A mechanic similar to Raimbow Six, but without the fictional component.
Another interesting mechanic would be to have the option to raid by helicopter and descend in fast rope like that swat4 mission.

I don't think it can't be done, I think it's a matter of will, the engine tolerates it.
I just don't think the devs are interested in it, it's a lot of work for use in like one single level, there is a modded map that semi-does what you're looking for though
In fact you simply put an animation in there and when you are near a window you execute a command to sub execute another animation where you break the glass or use another technique to enter. You simply place a rope asset, which allows you to hook your dummy on it, in turn execute a proper rappel animation and then sub execute options near the openings, as if it were a door.
Well, there could be more maps on which this type of action could be executed.
The rappel and fastrope has been used not only in buildings or high towers of more than 20 floors, it has been used in buildings of 2 to 3 floors, even in shopping malls.
I mean, this is almost a SWAT simulator and it would be interesting and I think it would be a great content/fun addition to the missions that have certain accesses.
It's really not as simple as adding an animation and it magically working, as it is right now there are no levels in the game that would facilitate fastrope entry in any way, closest thing you might see its a helicopter entrance on sins, that's it
I already know that, I'm not saying that it can be done as if it were magic, but void has no limiting techniques to be able to do it.
